In order to minimize the specifics of the proposed organization and how it will operate, the Working Group has created this page for any interested "further reading" about the proposed Thematic Organization.

  • Plans to hire an Executive Director (whenever this is possible and necessary): The board will appoint an Executive Director search committee of three board members to initiate a process, which will include advertisements, a "call", and any other appropriate methods for which there is funding. The search committee will review applications and make a recommendation to the board, who must vote to approve the hire.
  • Selecting a headquarters, if necessary, for any central staff members: The board should seek advisement from legal counsel but will ultimately decide on a location based on practicalities and may even delegate this task to the Executive Director.
  • Here is an introduction to the concept of Wikipedia Studies, which is a journal the board would like to create by 2015.
  • Membership roles: members may also elect to take on various responsibilities from a checklist of options, such as taking on an Ambassador role or providing financial support.
  • Here are some of the transitional needs through May 2013.
