Freemasonry cleanup

This section needs cleaned up. Freemasonry does not belong in this section. Relevant portals need added that were slated for addition and that are listed as branches of philosophy on the philosophy portal.

If anyone can explain how freemasonry is a branch of philosophy or inquiry conducted by notable western or eastern philosophers, it should be discussed rather than blindly added each time a change is made. Most likely it should be moved to a section on culture, society, or spirituality.

It is the best fit of all portal categories for Freemasonry to go to. As you are an IP with few edits, your motives are suspect even with AGF. Therefore, Freemasonry shall return here unless you or someone else suggest a better fit.--King Bedford I ^{Seek his grace} 17:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Freemasonry

The credentials of editors aside (such argumentum ad hominem is irrelevant)--Freemasonry goes best in either the culture section with civic and faith-minded organzations or, given the discussion of mystical components, it goes at the end of the religion section.

Having a philosophy does not make a subject either a philosophy or a branch therof. Everything and everyone have a philosophy and these other subject matters cannot best be served by being placed in the philosophy section. Similar is true in these circumstances: Placing freemasonry in philosophy does a disservice to philosophy and to freemasonry as it makes those interested in philosophy doubt the credibility of the section and its editors and it makes those interested in freemasonry unable to find their subject as it would not commonly be classed as such.

To say otherwise would require relevant evidence and arguments--not attacks on the source of contrary arguments.

In the interest of Philosophy and Freemasonry, I have moved Freemasonry as appropriate. I have added it to the culture section and deleted it from Philosophy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.179.107.240 (talk) 18:05, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

and I reverted. It's not a cultural thing, and it's not religion. It was part of the rise of philosophy during the 18th Century, so it returns.--Gen. Bedford ^{his Forest} 21:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
