Progress Report #3 – Montana State University, Wikipedia Ambassadors 2011-02-07

Over the last two weeks, graduates students in the course have been compiling a literature review of Federal Indian Law and Policy, much of the result is posted here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_States_Public_Policy/Courses/Spring_2011/Federal_Indian_Law_and_Policy_(Kristin_Ruppel)/Federal_Indian_Law_and_Policy_Literature_Review

Additionally, the students have identified several dozen articles (new or existing) for student assignments.

Today, I attended the class and addressed pressing Wiki editing and assignment questions. Attached is the presentation used. The debriefing of the “Just Looking Around” exercise (see attached exercise instructions) which the students conducted over the last few weeks generated some interesting questions and discussion. The discussion of assignments was productive and every student is committed to having chosen an assignment topic and having posted that topic to the course page by this Friday. The graduate students will have their literature review complete and posted by Friday as well.

The final part of the presentation dealt with Talk pages and Watchlists in an effort to get the students to begin actively participating in the WP community.
