The Election[edit]

  • The Saskatchewan general election, 2007 is on now ( November 7, 2007 ), so as Wikipedians we need to be prudent in enforcing traditional guidelines (especially WP:NPOV, WP:RS and WP:V). It doesn't matter what side we're all on for the election, we need to all make sure that articles are accurate and especially neutral. Larger election usually have enough people looking after articles to make sure they're fair, but we're only a small group here. Especially the last week of the election there will probably be a jump in the edits based on political promises, adverts and other things. So let's make sure we don't have anything about who will probably be the next premier, cabinet, ect. Let's make sure that we've got accurate information (if you looked at Calvert lately...). So, let's make this a good first election for this wikiproject to handle. -Royalguard11(TR!) 03:20, 16 October 2007 (UTC) quoted from wikiproject discussion page with date revision for is now on[reply]

Portal:Saskatchewan[edit]

  • The portal is growing with new articles, images, DYK and news items to help introduce the WWW visitor to the Saskatchewan area of Wikipedia. Please add your impressive or notable items to the portal, and they will rotate through on the main page. Thank you!!
  • Could a two or three sentence news article about the last election be added to the portal please?
  • Likewise could a short news item about the Saskatchewan Roughriders entering the Western Finals, and that the Hilltops won the Canadian national championship also be added to the portal.

Visitor Attractions[edit]

  • There is an awesome Category tree for visitor attractions which would benefit from additions about Saskatchewan. Articles about our province should be checked that they are included in this venture.
    no subcategories

Assessment Department[edit]

  • Which option should Wikiproject Saskatchewan adopt for assessing articles?
  • Currently Wikiproject Saskatchewan has been tagging talk pages with the Wikiproject Canada banner for assessment of articles.
  • The Canadian provinces which have their own assessment departments as part of their wikiprojects are:

BC, Vancouver, AB, NB. Other Canadian projects: Canada Roads, CFL

  • The Canadian provinces which do not assess their own articles at their wikiprojects are:

MB, PQ, ON, NS, NL. Cities: Toronto, Ottawa, Prescott-Russell

  • The only Canadian province without a wikiproject set up is PEI. All the territories have no wikiproject NT, YT, NU.
  • A request could be made at Canada Wikiproject to set up an additional parameter in their banner such as...how the Canadian military history task force uses WikiProject Military history banner and addes an additional syntax parameter.
Any article related to this task force should be marked by adding parameters to the project banners at the top of its talk page: This will automatically place it into Category:Canadian military history task force articles.
Looking forward toward more contributions from you! Happy Editing!!

Improvements?
[edit]

  • Has anyone worked on a Saskatchewan article to good or featured status, or knows of an article that should undergo overhaul to achieve good or featured status? Has anyone put a Saskatchewan related article into peer review to improve its content?
  • Would like assistance citing sources for List of University of Saskatchewan alumni so it can achieve good or featured status as a list to honour the 100th anniversary of the U of S similar to this list.

Robot Queries
[edit]

Delivery[edit]

  • Can anyone help set up this newsletter on an automatic robot delivery system similar to User:Ralbot? Does one work better than another? Some online wikipedia robots used by other wikiprojects have been: R Delivery Bot Grafikbot ST47 Betacommand Discussion has been initiated here. Some folks have been able to use AWB for this task

Saskatchewan articles identity disclosed[edit]

  • A robot to identify wikiproject articles which should be included in wikiproject Saskatchewan is also under review. This robot: User:AlexNewArtBot is being tested by many wikiprojects such as WikiProject Military history for one example. It is fairly easy to find articles entitled Lemberg, Saskatchewan as Saskatchewan is inherent, however, for a biography such as ‎Carena Roller it is harder to properly find and place wikiproject banners on Saskatchewan related people.

Saskatchewan articles categorized[edit]

  • Likewise there have been requests to categorize articles into respective categories such as biographies about Saskatchewan people into the Category:People from Saskatchewan or into Category:University of Saskatchewan alumni which have been completed as a task by User:Betacommand/Bot Tasks This task would look at mainspace articles that prioritize repetition of the word Saskatchewan in articles tagged by a wikiproject biography template on the talk page. Higher priorities come up first in the results list. See the WikiProject Stagecraft request. This would be similar to the above request to identify articles which need a wikiproject banner

Wikiproject banners on Saskatchewan categorized articles[edit]

  • Previously there have been requests to have a Bot that could add {{ Saskatchewanproject}} to the talk page of each article in the several Saskatchewan categories and sub-categories. Should our project similarly make such a request at Bot Requests? Likewise the WP SK Communities & Neighbourhoods banner and WP SK Roads talk page banners could be added to their respective category articles.

Automatic Banner Assessment [edit]

  • If the front of the article is tagged with Template:Stub or some other stub template on its front page and is tagged with WikiProject Saskatchewan in its talk page it should automatically be rated for stub class for wikiproject Canada. It would also be good to add cat to the class parameter for Saskatchewan wikiproject items in category space, add dab to the class parameter for Saskatchewan wikiproject articles with {{disamb}} or {{hndis}} tags, add GA or FA to to the class parameter of Saskatchewan wikiproject or to the wikiproject Canada template if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page add needs-photo= yes to the Saskatchewan wikiproject } if no image is on the article page. Should the robot also automatically add the article to Wikiproject Canada as they have an assessment department for articles, or should Wikiproject Saskatchewan also have an assessment department? In which case a robot should add {{ Saskatchewanproject|class=(choose one: FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, Dab, Template, Cat, Image, List, NA)|importance= (choose one: Top, High, Mid, Low, NA)|needs-photo=|}} and the template would need to be modified. Also would WP SK Communities & Neighbourhoods banner and WP SK Roads talk page banners fall into the assessment department of Saskatchewan or each singularly assess their own articles? See this request: Autotagging for the Chicago Wikiproject.

SK or CA Wikiproject Assessment Departments[edit]

  • If the decision is made currently to remain with the article talk page banner of {{Saskatchewanproject}} without assessment and a robot is requested to make article talk page additions, is it hard to change the talk page banner to one with assessments {{ Saskatchewanproject|class=(choose one: FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, Dab, Template, Cat, Image, List, NA)|importance= (choose one: Top, High, Mid, Low, NA)|needs-photo=|}} at some later date?

Periodic To Do List[edit]

  • To make a to do list of a compilation of Wikiproject Saskatchewan articles tagged or Saskatchewan categorized articles tagged. Regarding WikiProject Saskatchewan articles needing attention should the project likewise pursue a robot which could go through all articles tagged with a Saskatchewan WikiProject banner or Saskatchewan category to find articles that are tagged with a cleanup template or any error tag, and place these articles into a Category:Saskatchewan articles needing attention to assemble them into one place? It has been said that SatyrBot does something like this for WP:LGBT. Take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies/to do short list and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies/to do full list for what the bot produces. The first one is a random subset of the second one, suitable for adding to a project page, like we do on WT:LGBT. It also looks like Betacommand or AutoWikiBrowser may be able to do such a project.
  • With AutoWikiBrowser, load a list of articles in category A, and load a list of articles in category B, and use the list comparer to come up with a list of articles in both categories. Category A could be an error tag listing such as Category:Articles with unsourced statements since February 2007 and category B could be Category:Saskatchewan, and the list comparer would show duplicates. Scan specific categories for Unsourced Statements or Various Cleanup Tags A periodic list entitled To Do once a month would be awesome to submit in the newsletter for the Tender Loving Care Section to alert members to articles which have tags upon them.

What links here[edit]

Welcoming bot[edit]

  • At the page; Welcoming bot; it was asked if a robot could welcome new users, and was decided it would be impersonal. Would it be practical to request a robot to alert the wikiproject of new pages created which relate to Saskatchewan and which are created by a new user, and then wikiproject members could then greet the new user and welcome them to the project?

Compilation of Requests[edit]

  • Compilation of 'Wikiproject' automated task requests for robots have been listed for discussion above. Discussion and comments are invited.
