Strange Things Have Found Us[edit]

"People are strange when you're in Stranger Things..." Netflix's acclaimed sci-fi horror series falls to #2, but has a strong presence nonetheless by bringing in nine of its cast members, more entries than It back in September - and coincidentally, one of the actors (#17) was in that movie too - and slightly less than the deaths of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds last December.

"Faces look happy when you have won..." Also heavily on the list is baseball, as the Houston Astros (#10) win their first World Series and bring along three of their players.

"Men seem wicked when you're unwanted..." Yet the week was topped by another sexual scandal in Hollywood (Harvey Weinstein wasn't enough!), with Kevin Spacey accused of sexual advances on a fellow actor (#4) when he was just 14, leading many other men to reveal the acclaimed performer had done the same with them.

"Streets are uneven when you're down" The rest of the list has four holdovers (two Hollywood movies, a Netflix series, and the week's holiday), the Day of the Dead along with the deceased themselves (the yearly list and a Korean actor), an entry of strangeness - Reddit discovering how to literally make jewelry out of waste (#12) - and another that's just a downer - politics, specifically fallout of that trainwreck that was last year's election (#25).

1	Kevin Spacey	2,962,876	Kevin Spacey is a great actor, but it's sad to see he could be off the screen a sleazeball on par with Keyser Söze, Lex Luthor, and Frank Underwood. After several men accused Spacey of sexual harassment\assault, Hollywood turned on him, and even worse, Spacey didn't realize outing himself as a gay man as everyone is calling you a pervert is insensitive. It all started with a reveal by Anthony Rapp, as detailed by his own entry at #4.
2	Stranger Things	2,836,053	The second season of Netflix's critically acclaimed sci-fi horror series was released on October 27, returning viewers to a small town in 1980s Indiana. One year after an interdimensional monster kidnapped and\or killed a few people before being destroyed by a psychokinetic girl, the characters try to return their lives to normal. But no, it will be a scary Halloween for them. Speaking of which...
3	Halloween	2,015,492	"This is Halloween, everybody make a scene Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright!" After monstruous behavior and actual monsters, comes the day where supposedly it's good to scare\be scared as you seek for candy and\or a party.
4	Anthony Rapp	1,750,268	Rapp, an actor best known for the play Rent and who's currently playing an officer in Star Trek: Discovery, denounced that in 1986 Kevin Spacey had tried to molest him at the age of 14. All hell went loose.
5	Thor: Ragnarok	1,251,912	The 17th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe arrived in the remaining international markets this week, including the United States, where it opened atop the box office with a hefty $121 million weekend. Heavy on the comedy and regarded as the best of the three Thor films, Ragnarok was directed by New Zealander Taika Waititi and added the likes of Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett and Tessa Thompson to previous Thor mainstays like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba, as well as roping in other MCU heroes like Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange.
6	Millie Bobby Brown	1,057,845	Portrayer of the most memorable character of Stranger Things (#2), a girl with psychokinesis known simply as Eleven. And somehow Brown been named among the sexiest people on TV despite being only 13 (see #4 for a case of how wrong this is).
7	Day of the Dead	735,087	In a reversal from last year, Mexico's carnival of the cadaverous celebrated on November 1st did not surpass the All Hallows' Eve holiday north of the border (#3).
8	Deaths in 2017	692,190	November has arrived, marking eleven months straight without the death list leaving, even in a week light on high-profile departures (the biggest is #14).
9	Winona Ryder	673,987	Ryder is the most famous of all the Stranger Things (#2) cast (Beetlejuice, Heathers, two Oscar noms, etc.), and plays Joyce Byers, a mother who wants to suffer less after her younger son was held captive by a monster for most of Season 1.
10	Houston Astros	657,563	Following a long history of either mediocrity or suffering, and a season where their hometown was hit by a hurricane, the Houston Astros finally could celebrate being the best team in baseball by winning the 2017 World Series in seven games over the LA Dodgers.
11	Natalia Dyer	655,622	Also from Stranger Things (#2), Dyers, who at the age of 20 can hope to still achieve some of the success of Winona Ryder (#9), portrays Nancy Wheeler, a teenager who wants to suffer less after her best friend was killed by a monster in Season 1.
12	Fordite	607,456	Reddit learned about this jewel made out of hardened car paint.
13	Justin Verlander	573,662	Verlander, pitcher for the Houston Astros (#10), has won his World Series ring and decided to put on a wedding ring as well, marrying model Kate Upton (who narrowly misses the list, #28) a few days later.
14	Kim Joo-hyuk	564,566	South Korea and most of Asia mourned the tragic death of this Korean actor in a car crash, at the age of 45.
15	George Springer	538,587	The 2017 World Series Most Valuable Player Award, hitting a record-tying five home runs for the Astros (#10).
16	Gaten Matarazzo	534,452	Stranger Things (#2) again, the portrayer of Dustin Henderson who, like his character, suffers from a genetic disorder involving bone growth. Outside the series, he's also appeared in a Katy Perry music video and has advocated for his condition.
17	Finn Wolfhard	478,607	In-between seasons of Stranger Things (#2), the portrayer of Mike Wheeler (friend\love interest of #6, younger brother of #11) also appeared on one of 2017's runaway film hits, It. And sadly, like co-star Millie Bobby Brown (#6) Wolfhard received unwanted attention, as a model twice his age asked "call me" (again, see #1 and #3 for how advances on minors are unsavory).
18	Charlie Heaton	466,528	Stranger Things (#2) again, this time the Brit who portrays Jonathan Byers, older son of Winona Ryder (#8) and boyfriend of Natalia Dyer (#11).
19	Mindhunter (TV series)	377,605	Another triumph for Netflix and producer\director David Fincher, with the first season of this true crime drama having been released on the web streaming service on October 13. The 1977-set series concerns FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), who interview serial killers in order to understand how criminals think and use that knowledge to solve crimes.
20	Dacre Montgomery	368,275	One more Stranger Things (#2) actor! This time it's one who earlier this year was a Power Ranger, and on Netflix plays the psycho older brother of a girl who calls herself "Mad Max". Given Montgomery is Australian, perhaps he wanted that moniker for himself?
21	Jigsaw (2017 film)	363,758	With MCU XVII not out in the United States until next week, the way is thus clear for a challenge from the return of the Saw franchise; the first film in the horror series since 2010's Saw 3D, and the eighth film overall. It opened to $16.2m in the US, the lowest opening weekend box office for the series.
22	Joe Keery	396,614	Joe Keery has a role in Molly's Game, Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut with a remarkable cast. But why he's on the list? Of course it's Stranger Things (#2)! His role is Steve Harrington, a student with amusing hair who managed to retain his relationship with #11 for a year before she got drunk and angry (losing your friend to an interdimensional monster is not easy to overcome!), leading to a break-up and her hooking up with #18.
23	Sean Astin	396,286	An inspired casting choice by Stranger Things (#2): given the show is a call back to the movies of the 1980s, season 2 brings in the leader of The Goonies (who the younger generations might know as a Hobbit).
24	José Altuve	389,669	One of the Astros (#10) who won the World Series, this Venezuelan is also the shortest player on the MLB, as neatly demonstrated by his picture next to a huge Yankee.
25	Paul Manafort	389,232	We end with the only thing scarier than sexual harassment and interdimensional monsters: politics! Manafort, a lobbyist who had a history of being involved with either Republican presidential candidates or controversial foreign leaders, surrendered to the FBI on the 30th for a middle ground: the investigation on how the Russian interfered with the 2016 election found out that while Manafort worked on Donald Trump's campaign, he was lobbying for a pro-Russia party in Ukraine, receiving his payments in offshore accounts while engaging in extravagant expenditures to launder the money.
