Wikipedia:Sensible Censorship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The limiting of moderating however not completely abolishing it.

About this Proposed Policy[edit]

Wikipedia is not a democracy. It needs some moderating to protect some controversial topics from vandalism. However, it has gone too far in some cases. For example, adding the criticisms of President Bush alongside his successes is not vandalism, so why were the criticisms deleted?

Why it is needed[edit]

It is needed to protect Wikipedians from abuse, and protect articles from vandalism, but also to reduce censorship on the internet and promote free speech and debate. For example, the proposed abolition of userboxes and the suspension on creating new ones need not be done; userboxes are not directly offending anyone; no one is being forced to add them to their user page. This is further unneeded censorship on Wikipedia.
