Administrators can salt pages at their discretion, even preemptively, if they meet one of the following criteria:

1 The page has a title of the form Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Username, where Username is the username of an administrator.

2 The page has a title of the form Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Username, where Username is the username of an administrator.

Note: Any autoconfirmed user may request create protection of its corresponding long-term abuse page, even preemptively, if the user was not banned, and isn't a sockpuppet of a banned or blocked user.

3 The page is, or ever was, a deletion discussion of a featured or good article, or of a main page.

4 The page is, or ever was, a deletion discussion of a policy critical to Wikipedia being an encyclopedia.
