Wikipedia:No talk page spamming

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Talk pages, for both users and articles, are intended to provide a vital means of collaborative discussion on Wikipedia; talk page discussion is valuable, and indeed essential, in cases of dispute resolution surrounding Wikipedia editing. They are there to be used.

However, excessively cross-posting talk page messages across many talk pages, most commonly abused regarding user talk pages, is not acceptable on Wikipedia. If you wish to make yourself heard, you will be by simply posting in the correct places. Excessive cross-posting to canvass votes, or to request attention on a particular subject, is not warranted under any circumstances.

In short, you may use talk pages to communicate, but not to canvass.
