Geez, the only way to get anything done here is to do it yourself. Adolf Hitler said that I think... One Salient Oversight

Let's meet in Parramatta. Any objections?

What do want to do at the meeting? Is this a social gathering, or do you actually plan on doing Wiki(p|m)edia related things? enochlau (talk) 16:12, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be great if we could meet in Parra somewhere. Albatross2147 03:34, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Change of venue is fine by me. Any weekend is OK. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:05, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Re the agenda - I'm happy to just meet other participants and have lunch, or do "more serious things".
Re the location: Parra is good, being the Geographic centre of Sydney!Garrie 21:26, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will definitely be there if we meet in Parramatta! I live in Guildford. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
hey aussie wikis! love to see you all again.... saturday in parra sounds good. i can let you know how my thesis on WP is going... so return your interviews if you haven't already! :-) tamsin 05:24, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Weekend in late(er) July is good. Location doesn't really matter. It would be good to discuss whether the Australian Chapter is ever going to happen... Witty Lama 23:20, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's a little hard to discuss just in Sydney, seeing as most of the discussion has been happening on IRC previously, and most of the participants in those meetings don't live in Sydney. Australia's big geography is really annoying sometimes. enochlau (talk) 02:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to have a meetup sometime in the next few months, preferably on a Saturday so we have some time together. Maybe we could get a speaker or two (one of us?) and have an open discussion time. Or maybe we should eat heaps of Chinese food. Either way I think once per year is not often enough. I enjoyed the other night btw. --One Salient Oversight 10:46, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about one in the week before Wikimania (i.e. very end of July) to share ideas/comments between those who are going and those who won't? Or maybe one just after wikimania to provide a "wrap up"? Witty Lama 18:00, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I may be uninformed here but isn't Wikimania 2007 in Taipei? I'm certainly not rich enough to go! One Salient Oversight 04:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way I think we could meet maybe 3-4 times per year now thinking about it. Melbourne meetup is already planning their 6th meeting and they had three last year. --One Salient Oversight 04:09, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a few of us in Newcastle who are meeting in June. Anyone from Sydney is invited if you're happy to drive back late or stay overnight somewhere. --One Salient Oversight 06:31, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would personally like one in the June-July school holidays. It is when I have more time! Hohohob 03:59, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, holidays are 30 June - 15 July. When? Where? If you're sick of the same people turning up, have it somewhere else. I'd go to something West of Strathfield.Garrie 03:37, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney July Meetup[edit]

I've moved a bunch of stuff to Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/July 2007. I've tallied up and the results are here still.Garrie 04:18, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tallies[edit]

Damn I'm doing this for a second time. I hate my poxy proxy server. I did a count up a minute ago, it was really detailed with names and all. I ended up with, the most "maybe's" and "Saturdays" and "whatevers" worked out to lunchtime 21 July. At Parramatta, and I'm guessing within walking distance of the trains. Church Street (used to be a mall?) has some good cafe's. Food seems to drive success in these things, I'm suggesting woodfired pizza - but we can always work that out on the day if there are going to be less than 20 of us? BTW. That day seemed good by:

Please, cross out, your name or replace it with a signature so we know you still think you're going to be there. Or add it to the list now that there's an actual date (or by all means keep talking till August ;) )! Garrie 04:12, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm assuming the meet is still happening. Any idea where/when? --One Salient Oversight 09:30, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did it happen? I couldn't make the 21st. --Mike 04:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to be in Sydney in the final week of November (until 2 Dec), would be great to meet some of my fellow Wikipedians during my visit. While I've posted this on the Meetup page, I doubt it'd take the form of a meetup (I'm hardly Jimbo Wales :P), so people can contact me directly if they wish.
