On November 16, Wikipedia Connection will be hosting a Wikipedia Asian Month edit-a-thon. Wikipedia Asian Month is a global month-long event, where hundreds of Wikipedians from all around the world create thousands of articles on Asian topics. We plan to participate in this event through our edit-a-thon at Ohio State.

Food, refreshments, and swag will be available. Anyone with an interest in the cause and editing is welcome to join - no prior editing experience is required!

Please be aware of our Friendly Space Policy.

  • Date: Wednesday, November 16
  • Time: 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
  • Location: Ohio State University, Thompson Library Room 150A/B
  • Information for Non-OSU Wikipedians
  • Who should participate:
    • Everyone is welcome! While this event takes place on campus and is run by a university student organization, you do not have to be affiliated with the Ohio State University to attend. We welcome students, faculty, staff, and Wikipedians from all around the area to join us, regardless of skill level.
  • What to expect:
    • The goal of this event is to create articles related to Asian, whether it be people, companies, geography, technology, plants, animals, and so on.
    • The event will begin with a presentation of Wikipedia a quick guide to editing - previous editing experience not required!
    • You don't have to attend the whole time - if you've got somewhere to be or will arrive late, no problem!
    • Food, snacks, and refreshments will be provided, along with some goodies.
      • Vegetarian options will be available. Please contact SuperHamster if you have any other dietary needs.
  • Cost: Free (Please register here!)

  • Please bring a laptop with you!

Outcomes[edit]

Participants improved over 20 articles across two language editions of Wikipedia. Over 60 edits were made, with 2,700+ words added.
