OriginalWaiting, a pastel on paper by the French Impressionist Edgar Degas, completed between 1880–82. It is one of his earlier pastels, and part of a series of works depicting ballerinas. Here is a ballerina accompanied by her chaperone, bent over ostensibly to massage her foot but whose body language indicates a person racked with anticipation before she takes stage.

  • Crisco, is that aimed at me? I wasn't being sarcastic – I just misread the sizes of the pic. on Commons. Simply a mistake. Sorry. Sca (talk) 15:18, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah. Some people end up going for "ironic" with pix this size, saying "too small". No worries. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:12, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
