OriginalThe Surrender of Breda is a 1635 oil-on-canvas painting by the Spanish Golden Age painter Diego Velázquez which depicts the Spanish conquest of Breda, in the Netherlands, following the Siege of Breda. It depicts Justinus van Nassau surrendering the city to Ambrogio Spinola
Reason
Interesting near-contemporary depiction of a historic event, and one which has its own article as well!
