OriginalEvening Snow on the Heater, a mid-18th century ukiyo-e print by Japanese artist Suzuki Harunobu (1725–70), displays Harunobu's mastery of the then-new polychromatic nishiki-e (or "brocade") print, as well as luxurious techniques such as extensive embossing
Reason
A beuatifully scanned image of a print by Suzuki Harunobu, one of the great ukiyo-e masters. The print is so well scanned that the extensive embossing can be clearly seen.

  • Support - Wouldn't this have EV in nishiki-e as well? We haven't had any featured ukiyo-e in a while, and the last Japanese woodcut that was promoted (AFAIK) is certainly not MP friendly (NSFW). Glad to see another one nominated. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:10, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Idunno—he looks awful friendly to me! It could probably go in "nishiki-e", but then there'd be three out of four images there by Harunobu. I may get around to expanding the article someday, though. Curly Turkey (gobble) 00:27, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • One suspects we settled way too easily on the Dream of the Fishermen's wife scan. It's very low quality. Adam Cuerden (talk) 07:55, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Very high quality. Has it really been that long, though? The LoC has lots. Adam Cuerden (talk) 07:52, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Apparently my memory was faulty: this was the most recent, in Nov 2013 (that's still an almost 2 year gap between Dream and the next promotion). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:34, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • LoC is like a bottomless pit of extraordinarily high-res scans—I've uploaded a boatload of them to Commons (mostly Sharaku). The Met's scans are lower-res, but I haven't seen anything at LoC that's as beautifully scanned as this one (the Met's got a bunch more like these—one of these days I'll find the time to upload more). • Support High EV and obnoxiously high quality scan. Easy support. Sven Manguard Wha? 19:19, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
