  • Support: Not a heck of a lot. A better developed article would be nice, but that's not a criterion. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:51, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Eye-catching rocket, although some crop could be made. Brandmeister t 02:13, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Should be cropped though. JJ Harrison (talk) 07:17, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I like it as it is. I don't think that cropping is necessary, but if someone wants to post an alt then we can consider it. Pinetalk 09:40, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Crop is ok as it is, but I would support a cropped version too. - Zephyris Talk 10:13, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I suppose this is very deep water, in which case I don't think a too-tight crop is needed (although I would also support a crop) as we would loose the indication of the murky environment. The articles are a little short, but I thin they check out ok. TehGrauniad (talk) 11:04, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Added a cropped ALT. Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:24, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support As TehGrauniad said, I didn't a too-tight crop to represent the natural environment, the immensity of the deep water.--Citron (talk) 14:08, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Very high quality, maybe the resolution could be higher but this is good too-- Someone35 (talk) 15:10, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question Is this thing microscopic or the size of a bus? You have no chance of telling from the picture alone... Aaadddaaammm (talk) 17:26, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Oppose As noone's addressed the scale issue I have to oppose as the EV is really compromised by not knowing how big it is. Aaadddaaammm (talk) 07:28, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Considering the location, I doubt the photographer could have stepped out and measured it. The species' size itself doesn't seem to have been identified (not in any of the sources). Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:43, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm no expert, but I believe that the size varies as much as, say, mould or coral, meaning that the size of this particular specimen isn't particularly important. I believe what you're seeing here is many different organisms that act as one, as a "colonial organism". It's not too distantly related to the famous Portuguese Man o' War- they're both in the order Siphonophorae. J Milburn (talk) 14:21, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Alt 1, better crop. Kaldari (talk) 05:43, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Alt 1 IMO it's much better.   ■ MMXX  talk  22:17, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Support This is one of the most beautiful images I have seen here, it is detailed superbly and not grainy. It is not blurred hence the appendages look like lightbulbs. I think this picture is representative of the subject + Comment Not only mankind can light up the world! Oh, and do they make plushies of these? Sheled Umlal 14:08, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • This image was rotated 90 degrees - is that justified? Samsara (FA  FP) 00:28, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm happy that you like this image. I've rotated it because is his natural posture. The NOAA photo Library has not even made the effort to identify the specimen, so, we don't ask them to put the image in the right direction! see this one --Citron (talk) 21:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The nature of this photo makes orientation pretty arbitrary, so I would say Citron was right in doing so. If this were a landscape it would be another story. Jujutacular talk 15:48, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Early supporters, do you prefer the original or Alt 1? Makeemlighter (talk) 21:31, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
