Mariana Fruit Bat[edit]

A very detailed picture of an Fruit Bat. There are currently no bat pictures as Featured Pictures, so i decided to nominate this picture as a canidate. The bat itself shows great detail, while the background is present, but blurry/defined enough to cause a distraction. I also think there is great lighting in the picture.

I don't feel at this point that I can support the image (although I'm still deciding), but I do want to note that, if we were to feature the image, I prefer the original to the contrasted pic that Fir did. Fir's work is usually an improvement to photos, but in this particular case, I feel that the contrasting actually loses some detail in the shadowier portions of the photo (at least on my monitor). The bat's head, in particular, is very distinct from the tree trunk in the background in the original photo, but I feel that it is much harder to see where bat ends and tree begins in Fir's version.
