Oppose For a scan of a silver-based photograph, the quality seems quite good. The contrast—I think—is a little low. But I keep wrestling with how these generic U.S. Gov. portraits can be considered as FP material; they really should be remarkable in some way that makes them truly stand out in their genre.   - JPEG compression is a lossy compression, i.e. it looses image data in an intelligent way to reduce file size. The more compressed it is the more it looses. If you look at the full res file, you'll see blocky squarish compression artifacts. There is nothing that can be done to recover the lost image data. I would be inclined to disagree; they certainly have different connotations. A diagram may be educational, but, for instance, a portrait of a minor celebrity or obscure politician is not as clearly "educational". J Milburn (talk) 16:19, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
