Duke of Edinburgh-class cruisers[edit]

This small class of armoured cruisers principally served in World War I. Both ships participated in the unsuccessful pursuit of the German battlecruiser Goeben and the light cruiser Breslau at the beginning of the war before they were transferred to the Red Sea for convoy escort duties. They later joined the Grand Fleet in the UK and participated in the Battle of Jutland where Black Prince was sunk with all hands. The remaining ship spent the rest of the war on blockade and convoy escort duties before she was scrapped in 1920.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:36, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Australia women's national wheelchair basketball team at the 2012 Summer Paralympics[edit]

  • Support: Seems complete.--MarshalN20 | Talk 23:06, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am not a fan of topics on semi-obscure ppl, but this seems to be a fine topic. However, sports teams usually include coaches also. WHat makes all the players notable, while the coach is not? Doesn't the coach receive a medal also? Nergaal (talk) 10:21, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOLYMPICS, which says that Athletes from any sport are presumed notable if they have competed at the Summer or Winter Olympic games or have won a medal at the Paralympic Games. This makes all the Gliders notable, but as a coach John Triscari is not presumed notable. And no, coaches do not get Olympic or Paralympic medals. I could try and assemble an article on John. Hawkeye7 (talk) 11:32, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    I wrote an article on John Triscari. Hawkeye7 (talk) 00:37, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Cool topic. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:28, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question - This topic seems to be ready to be promoted. However, is there consensus on whether or not to add the coach in the topic? GamerPro64 18:40, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've created an article on John Triscari, and have nominated it for GA. Sports articles take months to come up for review, and there is no guarantee that it will pass. I will also be bring assistant coach David Gould's page to GA. Unlike Triscari, he is automatically notable, being a Paralympic gold medallist. Hawkeye7 (talk) 21:23, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Happy to Support without coach, though that one'd be a bonus Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 19:45, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Closed with a consensus to promote to Good Topic. And hopefully the addition to John Triscari would be soon. - GamerPro64 00:20, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1933 Atlantic hurricane season[edit]

Contributor(s): Hurricanehink

An on and off project for the past seven years, but it's finally done! 1933 was once the most active Atlantic hurricane season, and there were several important hurricanes. All of the storms that are article-worthy have them. Storms 5, 13, and 18 could theoretically get articles, but I don't see them missing as being a major missing link. For 5, it was a weak hurricane that happened to affect US (meaning there is probably info, but not much more than what's in the article). 13 struck a week before a much deadlier hurricane, so there isn't enough info. And 18 only affected the Caribbean, weirdly without that much info. A Google news search reveals minimal info for it. So I think the topic is done then. Hope you enjoy it! --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Interim comments: This appears to meet the good topic requirements, but I would be grateful for your thoughts on a few points:
Resolved comments from AGK
  • 1933 Trinidad hurricane : I made a minor copyedit, to swap in a word that seemed to fit better, but the article is still deserving of the GA status it attained in 2012. However, it's still not entirely clear to me what beach is meant by "Along the beach" in 1933 Trinidad hurricane#Impact. Is it the Mexican or Floridian coast?
  • 1933 Texas tropical storm : I made a minor copyedit. In 1933 Texas tropical storm#Impact, it might be worth clarifying whether the damage across Shelby and Panola counties was $1.5 million per county (i.e. $3 million across the two counties), or some other set of figures that added up to $1.5 million (in which case, are the specific figures for each county available?).
  • Clarified the $1.5 million was the total between the two. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think I know what you meant. I clarified the other hurricane moved through the area in late August, but I left out the date to reduce confusion. Does that work? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • 1933 Outer Banks hurricane : No issues.
  • 1933 Tampico hurricane : No issues. This article is particularly good (though that may be because the martial law happenings make it even more interesting to read).
  • 1933 Cuba–Bahamas hurricane : No issues.
  • 1933 Atlantic hurricane season : This article was promoted to FA some years ago, and I see concerns have been raised on the talk page that there is inaccurate information. Is the article up-to-date and does it still satisfy the FA criteria? It seems sound, but I assume you will have recently reviewed it from an expert's perspective.
  • I updated much of the info earlier this year, both in preps for this GTC, as well as due to a big update to the hurricane database. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Across this range of articles, is it conventional not to use {{Inflation}} to give updated figures, particularly in the case of a hurricane season as old as 1933's?
Good work! AGK [•] 22:51, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for reading all of the articles! As for inflation, it doesn't add too much, since $10 million in 1933, which would've been a lot then, would only be $180 million nowadays, which an average tropical storm does with little fanfare. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Super – that resolves all my concerns. Thanks for responding. This is my first time doing one of these, but I guess this is where I support promotion of this topic :-). AGK [•] 23:23, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1986 Atlantic hurricane season[edit]

Contributor(s): Hurricanehink, 12george1, Thegreatdr

Everything looks to be in good shape, with the newest promotion of Hurricane Bonnie. There is another article that could be included. The 1986 Jamaica floods were the same system that later spawned Tropical Storm Andrew, but it wasn't a tropical cyclone. It's a GA, so it wouldn't matter, but I didn't want to include something that didn't belong. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:56, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delegate Comment - This nomination has been up for nearly two months and no discussion has been made. Really seems bare without it. GamerPro64 01:11, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment There are a few deadlinks in the articles. See book report. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 01:43, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comments - In the season article, the source formatting needs some work. In the span of three consecutive references, you list the authors as Miles B. Lawrence, Lawrence, Miles, and Miles Lawrence. The "Dr" title is used for Harold Gerrish, but not for anybody else (Gray at the very least, and I have to believe most of the hurricane specialists have PhDs). This happens a couple times: "30 March 2009. Retrieved July 7, 2009." I would also like to see {{subscription required}} used a bit more, but that's a personal preference. In fact, the Bonnie article has many of the same issues. Outside of that, the content seems to be solid. – Juliancolton | Talk 18:19, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support with comment. Just a note that the referencing style across all the pages isn't consistent. 1986 Atlantic hurricane season has 4 International and 86 American, Bonnie has 22 ISO, 3 International and 16 American, Charlie 41 ISO, 1 International and 19 American and Danielle 15 ISO and 9 American. It's not overly important which is why I'm happy to support. --Lightlowemon (talk) 12:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
