"Milind Tambe" Wikipedia entry

Hi! Wrt "Milind Tambe" Wikipedia entry, I have suggested that if the page goes back to March 2019 (I had not touched the page before then), and then I suggest edit requests, would that help remove the conflict of interest tags? Milind tambe (talk) 20:52, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi, it's no big deal, but there wasn't actually a "missing word". I assume you're American, as am I, but the phrase "in future" is the way Brits would phrase it, whereas Americans generally would say "in the future". Just thought you might like to know.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:13, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

Oh, that’s really insightful and I didn’t realize that was a difference between them. Sorry about that! ZsinjTalk 01:04, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
I only know these things because I watch so many British movies and TV series. Another similar turn of phrase: Brits say "in hospital" rather than "in the hospital". You gotta admit it's more efficient. :-) --Bbb23 (talk) 01:12, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
Definitely! It’s also a completely different meaning that we don't differentiate in American English. I’ve erroneously changed it from “from now on” to “sometime eventually” and knowing this I think it’s better changed back! (Face palm) ZsinjTalk 01:16, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
I dunno, I've read some about what the two phrases mean substantively, and I'm not sure how settled it is as it's mostly been on blogs. I don't think it matters much in terms of the policy as I think either way the point is clear.--Bbb23 (talk) 02:52, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

Tulsa race massacre edit warring

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. 2601:547:500:2090:653F:F926:9256:E4D3 (talk) 01:20, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Edit-warring on Tulsa race massacre

@Zsinj: Why are you edit-warring to reinsert vandalism that is WP:OR and unsupported by the given references?

How do you explain your actions? 2601:547:500:2090:653F:F926:9256:E4D3 (talk) 01:28, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

The reversion of obvious vandalism (your removal of sourced content) is an exemption to 3RR. Describing the Tulsa race massacre as right-wing terrorism is supported by the last reference of the paragraph. ZsinjTalk 01:30, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
@Zsinj: Quote the passage. 2601:547:500:2090:653F:F926:9256:E4D3 (talk) 01:32, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
I was talking a look at this, expecting to block the IP, but I don't see any mention of right wing in the Guardian source. Did I miss it? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 01:32, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
The sticking point is the use of “right wing” within the whole sentence? The sentence has two references and was erroneously removed citing “vandalism” which was incorrect, since content disputes are not vandalism.
To your question, in the context of this historic event, racial terrorism of blacks in Tulsa was grounded in the hierarchal belief of white supremacy, a right-wing belief. The use of the phrase “right wing” in this sentence is merely a more broad way of describing “racial terrorism”, which can be directly quoted to the article. I interpret the sentence to be using wording that accurately summarizes the source while also enabling the use of another wiki link to a relevant article to provide that context to the reader. The linked article, likewise, mentions that racial terrorism is referred to as “white terrorism” starting as early as the Reconstruction era.
In conclusion, I defer to consensus on the article’s Talk page or elsewhere. My reason for being involved was the removal content without a valid reason ultimately four times in quick succession. ZsinjTalk 11:28, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
The sentence has two references and was erroneously removed That is a complete and utter lie. The sentence was not removed. The use of the phrase “right wing” in this sentence is merely a more broad way of describing “racial terrorism” That is obviously complete bullshit and exposes your far-left WP:POVPUSH. It is also WP:SYNTH. My reason for being involved was the removal content without a valid reason Vandalism, WP:OR, and WP:SYNTH are all valid reasons for removal. 2601:547:500:2090:DCE6:98CA:DC63:D255 (talk) 23:43, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
I defer to consensus on the article’s Talk page or elsewhere. ZsinjTalk 23:49, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
What "consensus" are you referring to, exactly? 2601:547:500:2090:DCE6:98CA:DC63:D255 (talk) 23:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
If the inclusion of the words “right wing terrorism” are OR and synthesis, that’s a completely valid argument. I agree, it requires interpretation to justify their inclusion, as I stated above. I wasn’t pushing a POV. I was reverting the removal of content that was apparently referenced but you insisted on adding it back in 3 more times. I don’t own the article, no one does. Wikipedia succeeds through collaboration. Happy editing. ZsinjTalk 00:14, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
I wasn’t pushing a POV. Your ridiculous and blatantly partisan claim The use of the phrase “right wing” in this sentence is merely a more broad way of describing “racial terrorism” proves otherwise. Not to mention that "I interpret" in this context is a huge red flag that any competent and honest admin would be aware of. 2601:547:500:2090:3A:BB2D:A099:4929 (talk) 00:15, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish: Since Zsinj has been caught lying about what references say, lying about other users' edits, and engaging in blatantly partisan POV pushing that is WP:OR and WP:SYNTH (see above), what disciplinary action will be taken against Zsinj? Do you let them get away with it because they're a fellow admin? Should admins not be held to a higher standard? Why did you let this transpire without taking any action? 2601:547:500:2090:DCE6:98CA:DC63:D255 (talk) 23:48, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
Your edits looked like vandalism and were reverted. Rather than going to the talk page and explaining the edit and discussing to achieve consensus you rapidly continued making the same edit. What action did you expect me to take over what is essentially a content dispute when the other editors has already said they'll defer to whatever the consensus is? Also, is it my job to monitor every discussion on this talk page in perpetuity to not let things you disagree with transpire? I'll get right on that when you start paying my mortgage and tending to my livestock. I'm putting up a shed this weekend, too, so I guess you'll take care of that while I watch this talk page?
In conclusion, no action will be taken because of reverts of what appeared at first blush to be bog standard American politics drive-by vandalism almost two weeks ago. Start a discussion on the talk page, and if there's no obvious consensus or you believe wider input is needed take a look at WP:RFCBEFORE and follow the procedures we have for content disputes. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:35, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish: is it my job Are you not an admin?
You did not address the fact that Zsinj lied about what the references said, and about what my edit was.
You also did not address the fact that they engaged in blatant partisan POV-pushing, claiming that The use of the phrase “right wing” in this sentence is merely a more broad way of describing “racial terrorism”. 2601:547:500:2090:3A:BB2D:A099:4929 (talk) 00:13, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
I shared my interpretation of two words within the context of a sentence that isn’t even part of that article anymore. I shared that interpretation here on my user talk page, which is completely fine. I have no further interest in arguing about the content of that article with you. Please stop. ZsinjTalk 01:04, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

I apologize

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

What does the warned user thing mean?

I saw a notification on Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism. I don't have to do anything for this, correct? It doesn't seem like I do, but I want to be sure. Feeglgeef (talk) 03:42, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

I added a note that you already warned the user, so fellow admins could be aware of the status of that report. Thanks for warning vandals! Happy editing and New Year. ZsinjTalk 13:07, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok! Happy New Year! Feeglgeef (talk) 02:21, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi Zsinj, thanks for working the copyvio revdel here, however this revision still needs to be revdel'd. I thought I updated the diffs to include it, but I might have missed it. ––FormalDude (talk) 03:27, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Looks like I accidentally edited over your update of the diffs, oops! Thanks for pointing out the additional oldid. It’s done! ZsinjTalk 03:31, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Richard dawkins page

I dont know how to do citations but I could tell you where i got them from so you can do it on my behalf and would kindly reinstate my additions. He said he has voted lib dem "all his life" in a poetry of reality video called "is religion inevitable". He said he only drinks alcohol with food early on in the video with bill maher on the club random podcast. The earliest record of the word designoid is from dawkins' christmas lecture, "is the universe designed" on his poetry of reality podcast video. So he did coin the word atleast rather than popularise it. If you search the word on the Internet only dawkins is referenced. It is shown and stated he enjoys music in the youtube video called "freethought matters - richard dawkins". I cant remember where he said that a female doctor who is a loss of a role model for boys but he did for certain. It might of been in an old tweet in 2017. In a more recent tweet last year he tweets he watches cricket. Robinhoodph (talk) 18:26, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
