Nomination of Polo Piatti for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Polo Piatti is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Polo Piatti until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nonsenseferret (talkcontribs) 03:05, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I note you added a comment concerning the deletion of the page Polo Piatti - please note that as above, the discussion concerning the deletion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Polo Piatti . I nominated this article because I do not think it meets the wikipedia policies for inclusion - if you disagee, the most effective way to prevent deletion is consider carefully the WP:notability and refer to the criteria there in your submission to the debate. I hope this message may be of some assistance to you. ---- nonsense ferret 13:03, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your recent explanation. I had a look at the guidelines and I cannot comprehend (with all due respect) why you would put Polo Piatti's notability in question. His CV, past activities and pedigree as a musician, composer and concert pianist around the world do speak for themselves! Unfortunately I am not very good at Wikipedia entries, etc. because I don't really understand how it all really works. But I am prepared to contact a third person supervisor or controller to ask for help because I would find it very inappropriate, unjust and simply unreasonable to delete this article. Finally I, would like to appeal to you to please help me develop or complement the article (only if you consider it necessary) instead of just deleting it. That would certainly be an error of judgement! Many thanks for your understanding. (I hope I have placed this comments in the right place!) Zaza888

this is not the correct place for you to raise an objection, so I have copied your comments to the deletion debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Polo Piatti please click the link to the debate to see the comments that people have made. To be clear the reason I have nominated the article for deletion is not as a reflection on the talents of the subject, it is because the wikipedia policies require the subject of articles to be notable and encyclopedic, which requires a significant amount of independent coverage from other sources, your objection will be stronger if you can point to this sort of coverage within the terms of the policy which is General Notability Guidelines link. I hope these comments are helpful ---- nonsense ferret 07:32, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have posted a note at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Polo Piatti, trying to help you to know what kind of evidence you will need to produce if you want the article to be kept. It would have been more natural to post it here, as it is addressed just to you, not to the other editors taking part in that discussion. However, I decided to put it there so that anyone else who comes to the discussion can see what advice has been given in connection with the discussion. Please do read my note, and I hope it helps you. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:10, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks to everyone. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to fight this article any longer (I need to work and earn a living!). Neither I am knowledgeable enough in Wikipedia matters and procedures to pursue all the avenues and options you suggest. I think it is up to you to review Mr. Piatti's notability. I think he is notable enough (and much more notable that many other people I have seen in Wikipedia!). But then again, you will have to decide for yourself. It doesn't really matter in the end because some people (especially classical composers) are only recognised only after death. It is only a real shame that you are so keen in deleting this article, considering how much information has been given to you in the past (see previous discussions, comments, etc.). I wish there was some sort of Supervisor that could intervene to clarify this situation. In any case, I do not really care if you delete the article in the end. It is only short-sighted and unfair on your part, that's all. Thanks anyway. Zaza888 (talk) 14:15, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate you are annoyed by the removal of this article, the only thing I can add is that perhaps if you think about the purpose of an encyclopedia you might appreciate why the decision was made in this way. Other encyclopedias like Britannica do not have an entry for the subject of this article, would you expect wikipedia to be different? If new clear substantial independent references are found to this subject then the decision about deletion can be reconsidered, and I would be happy to help you in this regard. I hope you won't let this discourage you from contributing to wikipedia in the future. ---- nonsense ferret 15:34, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I said previously, I do not have the time to fight you, nonsenseferret. You are simply wrong. I suffices to say that Polo Piatti is also included in the 'Who Is Who in Classical Music' since 1996 as in many other independent publications and his career been documented by man independent newspapers around the world. The fact that I don't know how to work out your Wikipedia system doesn't give you the right to delete an absolutely genuine article. And regarding your comment: No, I will never contribute anything to Wikipedia ever again. What is the point when all you do is being proactively unhelpful, assume the worst and delete my article? I do not have the time to spend to fight a stupid battle with you. You must live with your decision. I simply don't care either way any longer. Zaza888 (talk) 09:42, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
