Relisting discussions at XFD

Hi there. I noticed you relisted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Success Akpojotor a fourth time. Please remember that per WP:RELIST, Relisting debates repeatedly in the hope of getting sufficient participation is not recommended, [...]] in general, debates should not be relisted more than twice. Users relisting a debate for a third (or further) time, or relisting a debate with a substantial number of commenters, should write a short explanation either within the {{relist}} template, or in addition to it, on why they did not consider the debate sufficient. (emphasis added) As such, next time, if you cannot do anything else, consider just skipping this discussion instead of relisting it yet again, especially when the last two relists did not work as well. Thank you for editing my Monica Angle article

First I would like to thank you for looking for my article so quickly but I have a few questions. You said I shouldn't use citation 6 because it was the artists personal website, but this article is from the Buffalo State College's website's news and events section (http://newsandevents.buffalostate.edu/news/burchfield-penney-art-center-announces-new-board-trustees-and-council-members). Should I not use news and events sections of websites in general because of the risk the article would be deleted or is this one in particular not authoritative enough? Also you said I should get rid of all information copied from the Burchfield Penny article citation one (https://www.burchfieldpenney.org/artists/artist:monica-angle/). The information I took from this cite is all factual so I rearranged the wording and took out some words but I'm not sure if that'll be enough to fix the article. Would you mind taking another look before I resubmit the draft to let me know if I'm on the right track or if I should be doing something different? Again thank you so much for taking the time to review my first article cheers --Amfische2 (talk) 14:36, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Amfische2

Hi Amfische2, As you requested I have checked your draft, still you have to rearrange the words because it's looks like copyvio as you copied content from mentioned link also as I mentioned citation 4 and 6 to be removed before you resubmit with more citations and verifiable work sources but citation 4 you could use as official website link. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (talk) 18:28, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Closure of Ek Abla AfD

Hi,

Firstly let me stress that I'm not complaining, I'm just coming to seek clarification on your closure of the AfD I started on Ek Abla. My deletion rationale was that after several source searches, both online and offline, the film appeared to fail notability guidelines. I took it to AFD because I had PROD-ed it but Winged Blades of Godric removed the PROD and suggested more meticulous source searches considering the film's age. However, you closed it as Speedy Keep criteria 1, which is reserved for cases where there is no deletion rationale whatsoever. I think you made a mistake on this occasion (don't get me wrong, I've put up a few AFDs in the past couple of days and you've correctly relisted a good few of them), so I am asking you to reconsider your closure informally instead of taking it straight to review.

Many thanks,

Draft Declined: Aleksandra Osman

Hi there, sorry I was going through the article, and I get what you mean about citing sources. However, there are 2 newspapers and 1 magazine that I did cite, but they are in Croatian and when you click 'newspapers' link, it just does not mention them, it is a black page saying 'nothing found' in regards to Aleksandra Osman. I cited nacional.hr (there is a link to them as that specific article mentioning Aleksandra Osman was uploaded online), they are a newspaper. Also, Glas Slavonije is a newspaper as well, and there is a link to that article as well, which was uploaded online. Gloria magazine also has a 5 page spread in their magazine about Aleksandra Osman, but that article was not uploaded online and is instead only in the physical copy of the magazine. My questions is, how do I go about citing then if I did cite the newspapers and magazine, but for some reason it does not show when the link 'newspapers-news, etc.' is clicked. If you Google Glas Slavonije and Nacional, the newspapers I did cite, you can see that they are indeed newspaper magazine, listed everywhere online but are in Croatian. You can click 'translate' to see that they are a newspaper and they are also explained further on Wikipedia in English (and again, 2 newspapers and 1 magazine). It just feels discriminating and confusing that it is not registering this information automatically only because it's in Croatian language. A friend who publishes articles on Wikipedia tells me he noticed that it's a similar issue with articles in English when they're published with non-English references/topics. How do I go about this? I have more articles that I'd like to publish later on, but some of them also with Croatian references, so I want to make sure that this is done properly from both our sides. Thank you.  :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Literatta (talkcontribs) 05:03, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Literatta as I mentioned needs more citations and verifiable work sources, and you use IMDb links as references which should not be also note that wikipedia is not a references itself. docent ment you publish your articles with non-english references but that should be a verifiable work sources. also you could translated Croatian Wikipedia articles to English Wikipedia with Croatian references. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (talk) 18:35, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Streetbees

Hi there ZI Jony, Silencer17 here – I submitted the Streetbees page recently, and it didn't get accepted. Just trying to understand further why, and how I might be able to get it over the line! (to be clear – I work for the company)

Specifically, the reason left is a lack of published, reliable, secondary sources – however, I would point to several pieces referenced that I would argue very much are, especially:

Reference 2 – UKTN (one of the most important publications on the UK the sector)

Reference 4 – Forbes

Reference 5 – Evening Standard – London's biggest-selling newspaper

Reference 8 – appearance on Bloomberg TV (this seemed difficult to reference properly, is if fully clear that it's Bloomberg?)

Reference 11 – Sunday Times – I appreciate this is behind a paywall, but it's still the most influential newspaper in the UK – surely reliable?

I also didn't want to put this in the piece but the fundraise itself is significant – it's one of the largest fundraises by a UK company of this age ever.

Can you give me any advice on how to take this forward or improve the submission?

Thanks much, appreciate your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silencer17 (talkcontribs) 15:15, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Draft Declined: Accra Lions Football Club

Hi ZI Jony,

I just have a quick question about the declined draft for "Accra Lions Football Club". You wrote: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified." – so ghanasoccernet is as example not a reliable source, is that why the draft was declined? How about the official homepage of the football club? If this is a reliable source, I will just edit the sources and send it again, or can you tell me detailed what exactly is wrong?

I would be very happy about an answer and, thank you, I appreciate your time! Tfnalp (talk) 16:37, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Article for deletion declined

Hello, I just remembered that I submitted the article for deletion some time ago but it was declined with a "speedy keep" reason by you. Why exactly was it not deleted? Because of "consensus" by other commenters? As of now, the article is still in an unusable form, with only a single reference VERY BRIEFLY mentioning the name of the power plant, with no detailed info about it. I also checked the proposed references in that AfD nomination, all of them also mention the subject of the article VERY BRIEFLY and don't provide any extensive information about it (except the fact that the water discharge of this station was used for some insignificant study a couple of times)... I won't be nominating it for AfD again, I'm just trying to understand the reason why it still exists in its current form...Omgwtfbbqsomethingrandom (talk) 20:26, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Hey Omgwtfbbqsomethingrandom to re-nominate Konakovo Power Station for deletion, you must manually edit the AfD nomination links to create a new discussion page using the name format of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Konakovo Power Station (2nd nomination). When you create the new discussion page, please provide a link to this old discussion in your nomination. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 20:38, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

You had voted in the deletion request for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of plants of The Edge Chronicles. You might be interested in other deletion requests on the same subject:

Bad AfD closes and relistings

You've recently been closing discussions as "speedy keep":

However, this is an inappropriate use of WP:SKCRIT#1. In all of these cases, the nomination rationale was a valid reason. Even if it was proved to be untrue, that's not a reason to speedily close. In fact, in the last one, your closure was overturned and the discussion eventually closed as delete.

Also, per WP:CLOSEAFD, please do not close or relist discussions until a full 7 days/168 hours have passed, for example:

and just about every AfD that you've relisted. Please keep in mind that, per WP:NOQUORUM, AfDs with no participation beyond the nominator should be judged as a WP:PROD and deleted if the rationale is proper – which non-administrators cannot do.

Frankly, I don't believe you have enough experience with deletion yet to be doing administrative tasks at AfD or other deletion venues – I note that you have several self-reverted FfD closes as well. I would recommend that you read through the entirety of WP:AfD, WP:Guide to deletion, WP:ATA, and WP:NAC, plus similar relevant pages for the other deletion venues; and then gain experience by participating in deletion discussions properly before even thinking about relisting or closing more discussions. Indigo Agriculture

Hi, was going through some recent closes and this caught my eye. Can you please (as you are required) provide a rationale for your closing of this AfD of Indigo Agriculture as Keep. In my opinion, none of the Keep !voters cited a policy or guideline to support their arguments (except Eddy who says "There are enough sources for GNG to be met" but a) the quantity of sources is not a factor for GNG and b) he didn't point to any sources in particular) and the sources posted by Originalmess likewise fail to point out which particular policy/guideline these sources are supposed to adhere to but from his argument he clearly fails to understand NCORP since he points to possible press releases and interviews which would both fails ORGIND. HighKing++ 17:29, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

HighKing Sources need verifiable evaluation of notability, per reliable source guideline. Those sources provided are secondary sources. As an company meet WP:NCORP also article has been rewritten and now its not looks promotional article. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 19:11, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
ZI Jony, Yes, I agree with all that. The references meet the criteria for "functional independence" (reliable secondary sources, etc). But clearly you are not aware of aware that references must also meet the criteria for "intellectual independence" (documented in WP:NCORP)? Based on your response, you also do not appear to understand your role in closing an AfD. It is not for you to recite *your opinion* on the suitability of sources, but to evaluate the arguments put forward by the participants. Please reopen the AfD and allow someone else to close it. HighKing++ 19:32, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
@HighKing: It is the job of the closer to weigh up consensus – not to judge whether or not the sources that !voters have listed are independent or not. If, as in this case, numerous people say that GNG/CORP is met, then it is. ZI Jony did revert but without mentioning this and so I already reverted them. If you think that the close was inappropriate, please head to WP:DRV. SmartSE (talk) 19:45, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
@Smartse:, @ZI Jony:, yes I've just had a very similar discussion on another closer's page discussing very similar issues. In a nutshell (and agreeing with Smartse), closers should not be seen to exercise a "supervote". What I requested amounts to calling for the closing admin to place their own interpretation on policies and guidelines which I've been told is not the job of the closer. Apologies for getting that wrong but we're all learning! HighKing++ 11:21, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
@HighKing: Indeed we are! Thanks for admitting your mistake. SmartSE (talk) 19:53, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in study

Hello,

I am E. Whittaker, I am working with Wikimedia’s Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil Behavior Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Hi ZI Jony. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2018-12-31. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Move close

Hi Jony, Thanks for the close, I have moved the page. It was a good idea to ask for discussion, good call. Can you please change the close template as per the steps of RM closure. this is to take care of the RCD bot. see WP:RM--DBigXray 18:18, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

Done -- Thanks for your advice. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:29, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
