I need some help. I was working on the article for the James Charles Kopp federal court proceedings and someone who isnt registered and just left an ISP address deleted my update and believe it or not ADDED grammatical errors I had fixed (ie: originally "pictures of aborted" changed into "pictured of aborted". It was all in my own words and I sourced everything correctly. One can see what I mean when you go to the history page and click on the submission I made at 2:35am EST and he made at 2:53am EST and compare versions. I was wondering how do I report this person? I added back in my information but I hope I don't get banned because I have added more than 3 updates today.

I should also mention that this persons ISP addy is 128.227.1.39 for all intent and purposes.

first i would suggest that you place an edit summary so this anonymous user can understand the purpose of your edits, second, it that doesnt work, i suggest you place a message to the user's talkpage explaining your side, third if all else fail, proceed to the help desk. hope that doesnt confuse use. happy editing! †Bloodpack† 11:15, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there -- I think you should assume good faith of that IP user and look at their edit summary. I think they noticed you improperly added a signature to the article, and probably only meant to remove that but actually undid all three of your edits in a row. The nice thing about Wikipedia being a wiki, though, is that you can just change things back. Don't get into revert wars, but if someone undoes your change, you can always try just undoing their undoing, before escalating it into some kind of bad behavior report thing. People who sign everything they do even on the articles, are usually vandals so I assumed as much. I admit I didn't assume good faith but you assumed it even less than I did. No IP should ever be blocked just for one mistake. There is a process of multiple warnings before an IP can be blocked in order to see if the error was a mistake or intentional. Blocking an IP "on a whim" "goes against everything wikipedia stands for." I'll assume good faith from now on from you but I never wanted you blocked for your signature mistake, I didn't report you to several users, I didn't purposely add information that should not be on article pages. 128.227.139.180 16:03, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
