The Godfather

That is a valid speedy deletion, no assertion of notability. The article did not assert notability and as far as I can tell doesn't meet the notability standard defined at WP:SOFTWARE. As to not being able to demonstrate notability for much software, then that software also shouldn't appear here wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. I'm not willing to undelete it at this time unless you can demonstrate that there are non-trivial third party reliable sources which would demonstrate some notability. --pgk 07:26, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I am well aware of the status of WP:SOFTWARE, as am I aware of how policy is formed, WP:SOFTWARE is frequently referenced in debates relating to software concerning notability, it has a great enough significance that people use it as a yard stick. I am also aware that wikipedia policy is descriptive, not prescriptive - we don't sit around an ponitificate to form policy it's what we do which counts. If I might be so bold as to say so, you could try to be a little less judgmental in your edit summaries. Your wording here implies that my use of Erez as opposed to Erez, Israel was intended for subterfuge. Also, ` is not a quotation mark, it is an accent grave, just as ' is an apostrophe, not a quotation mark. ` is for ע; ' for intervocal א. Not all of us pronounce the two sounds identically. I re-added the vizard thing to the trivia section. Vizard isn't Spanish, it's an archaic English word which probably left regular use sometime in the late 18th century. Israel Defense Forces Insignia Article

Why have you changed my hebrew romanization, can I ask you? Why "Kheyl" but not "Kheil" can you tell me?

It's more correct to be "RAMATKAL" with bold letters than "Ramatkal" like itself. Why? couse it's short for "Rosh Ha'Mateh Ha'Klali". And if the last letter is "ה" then it must be "H". Example: "מטה" will be "Mateh".

I'm exploring the hebrew-foreign romanization it's long time, and please stop edit it.

Examples: KH - for "ח" (not including names and surnames such as "חיים". Will be: "Haim"). But correctly will be: "Khayim" as it's written so. CH - for "כ" (but not always. Such words as: "כסא". Will be: "Kise") Y - if there's twice "י" in word. Example: "חיילים" Will be: "Khayalim" TZ - for "צ" (and not "TS") like: "צה"ל" will be: "TZAHAL" and not "TSAHAL")

More effective examples it's the word (color) "Khaki" as in hebrew "חאקי" and the country "KazaKHstan" ("קזחסטן") and the arabian name "Khaled" ("חאלד")

And what's the deal with the images? I gived all the sources inside!

Insignia template

The template was used on approxiamtely 280 images. I removed the tag using WP:AWB, which leaves an automatic edit summary. In about 95% of cases, the image from which I moved the {{insignia}} template had two licensing templates, leaving one intact. In a few cases, the removal left no licensing template. It was simply not efficient for me to hunt down another appropriate template, especially because I choose not to involve myself with copyright and have little to do with it, and consequently I do not know what would make a suitable replacement template. All I knew was that the template that was currently being used, was not helpful and consensus on its TfD was to delete it. I am sorry if this reply is not as helpful as you would of hoped. Wikifcation of Yekutiel Adam

Hi, I added the tag because it isn't written in an encyclopedic format. It contains just sentence after sentence, with no paragraphs or any common purpose. Wikipedia isn't a CV or resume and I think pages such as the one in question need to be change in style. On a completely different note, you may be interested in doing some stub sorting; I recently created, per WP:WSS, an Israeli military personnel template that will eventually become a separate category. Seeing as this is your primary interest, you be interesting in adding this template to any articles you see fit. That is how I came across Yekutiel Adam. If another template works better, by all means do it. As for the template, it should only be placed on short articles, and its for all military personnel of Israel, not just generals. anyway, it is {{Israel-mil-bio-stub}}. When adding it to an article replace all the other templates with the same categories (like Middle Eastern military personnel, Israeli people or Israeli military stubs. If you have any questions about stubsorting, let me know. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what branch of the IDF are you in? Bleach image issue

Another case of an individual trying to immediately insert the most current possible image of a character rather than a decent quality one... since Isshin Kurosaki's OMG SPOILER is now common knowledge to the anime-only series followers, we're having a low-scale edit war over what image to use. I like this version, which, while not showing his shinigami form, is a good likeness of his character in general. User:Mecha50 wants to use this image, which displays his shinigami outfit quite well but is much lower quality and, imo at least, makes him look like Kermit the frog. To top it all off, another user is complaining about spoilers. --tjstrf talk 15:59, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, since you, Ynhockey, pointed out that the 'Ginyanote' reference was merely due to bad translation, how about putting exactly that as a point of trivia? It might enlighten a few more fen *grin*.

Expressways

Hi Ynhockey,

On List of highways in Israel, you've labelled all non freeways as expressways, but I don't think many of them meet the criteria (a divided highway for high-speed traffic with at least partial control of access). Let me know what you think, Tewfik^Talk 17:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

You're correct that there was discussion on the road topic, but I think it may have been on highway vs route vs road vs colour, or some such. In any event, my issue here is that many of the "red" highways are not divided at all, or only for very brief stretches, which does not really meet the expressway definition (90 I believe is only divided in Eilat, Beit She'an, Degania, and Hatzor, and is otherwise). I would say that they should still be designated as highways, but that their technical definition should match the realities on the ground. Tewfik^Talk 18:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Kiryat

Yeah, I was just about to write to you about Kiryat Malakhi/Mal'akhi. Why the apostrophe? I'm a Be'er Shevan and drive past it quite regularly, but have never noticed an apostrophe (though of course the signs are rarely correct). I don't believe it has to be there - it is becoming less and less common to replace an alef or ein with one - but if you insist. I just think it makes titles look a bit untidy :)

I wasn't sure about it, but I think Kiryat Ata is better than Kiryat Atta, but I didn't want to change the spelling of both words at once. Let me know your opinion. Number 57 20:28, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, a good point about Be'er Sheva. I would suggest that apostrophes are used in place of "double vowels", such as Ze'ev or Ma'ale. However, in the cases of Givatayim or Malakhi, the alef/ein sounds like a single English vowel ("a" in both cases) and I don't think they need an apostrophe (and I don't think I have ever seen them written with one other than on here). I also saw somewhere on Wikipedia a "Shmuel" with one in it (Shmu'el) which I think is totally unnecessary. Number 57 21:13, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

I started a discussion earlier today at the wikiproject page about possibly merging the anime and manga versions of the genre categories together, since they're redundant. Not soliciting your opinion one direction or the other, but you reminded me of it and I think it deserves wider input. Bet/Beit

Yes, I would go for Beit rather than Bet. I've just moved Ofaqim to Ofakim. Two other potentially controversial moves I would like to see are Beersheba (its biblical name) to Be'er Sheva and Petah Tikva to Petakh Tikva. Number 57 21:40, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

I can accept the Beersheva one, but the Petakh Tikva thing really annoys me. H is correct only at the start of a word (i.e. you wouldn't have Khaifa), but in the middle of a word or at the end, the Kh needs to be pronounced - it isn't Peta Tikva (how it would sound with an "ah" at the end) - it's PetaKH Tikva. Also, I don't set any stall in how many hits something gets on Google - all it shows is how many people are right or wrong :) Number 57 22:02, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Whatever "ḥ" is, I can't see it on my computer! This is not a Latin wikipedia - it's English, and there are differences between how different languages use the same alphabet - we don't differentiate between Het and Kaph in the way Mizrahis do - it's the same to English speakers, hence the letter being the same. Anyway, we need to be consistent with Hets, so if Petah Tikva remains so, Sakhnin and Kiryat Malakhi should lose their k's too - though I would prefer the addition of a k to Petah Tikva! Also, I think the Kfar issue needs attention - I have seen it Kafr, Kfar, Kefar and Kafar - surely it should just be Kfar? Another couple that should be changed - Qalansawe and Qatzrin. Hi Yan, I was wondering if you could put together something to replace Image:Expansion plan Ma'ale Adummim.gif, which aside from playing a games with Mt. Scopus, has its edge right before the Green line, so that it appears that places like E. Talpiot are in the middle of nowhere, and it defines the Old City etc. as "Palestinian built-up". Got it - also check out Category talk:Maps of the Palestinian territories. As for the map, it was licensed as fair-use, but I challenged that since it should be replaceable. In essence, I'm trying to make something along the lines of {{United States Cities Labeled Map}}. I've come up with this so far (see noted text) for this, but a smaller image would work better, perhaps with the Negev cut out, and some inset using the above Gush Dan map as those cities are too crowded for a good map. I'm not sure about that, as List of United States cities by population, a Featured List that I tried to stay loyal to, also limits the cities, even though they also have very much room. I was tempted to put cities like Eilat in, but I'm concerned about what the cut-off would be, so at the very least, we should probably get feedback at our FL nomination first. Thank you very much for your help, and if you happen to have a good picture of Holon, Rehovot, or Bnei Brak, that would be helpful as well ;-) I also feel that perhaps we should have a concentrated effort to bring the top 10-20 cities to at least GA, but that is neither here nor there. I read your points and have to think about them. In the meantime, I would appreciate if you could take a look at the FL discussion, as I'm unable to find the original data that you used for the bottom two charts, and unsure as to whether to simply replace the old information, or perhaps create some kind of dynamic graph. One of the problems is that I'm unsure whether the negative population cities of 2005-2004 are identical to those of 2000-2005/6. I also cannot find the specific government definition of he:ערייה. Mandate/Mandatory

Hi again. I've re-reverted your change on the Mordechai Namir page. Mandate Palestine is the term used by the British government (see here and here) and the BBC, so is about as official as you can get! The use of mandatory is somewhat confusing, as it means "compulsory", rather than specifically referring to a Mandate territory. Number 5 7 17:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

(Probably not your first) Image issue

Hi. The File:Bursa05.jpg contains the edge of a TNT ad (I thought I told you to keep the former until you photoshop it out!) - if you don't mind, I'll replace it with the previous one. I agree with you, the previous image had powerlines and telepoles blocking the view, as well as irrelevant buildings nearby, but I just can't scroll down an article and see a... well, you know what. Freeway or not?

You've added a reference to the article about Highway1 that the highway is classified as a freeway all the way to Jerusalem. As far as I know, this classification only applies to the Tel Aviv - Sha'ar HaGai section, and there's an "end of freeway" sign at that point.

BTW, by "Israel Roads Authority" do you mean the Public Works Department (or National Road Company of Israel, or whatever it is they call themselves nowadays), or the Ministry of Transportation?--Yairp 14:01, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey Yan i've noticed you keep removing the 1948 war history I had inserted from the Shagor article. I have given you sources of the events. It is not "Hamas" propaganda i dont understand why 60 year old events in the Galilee region have anything to do with Hamas. The event is factual and it has the right to be mentioned. If you kept reading that section of the article you would see i had also mentioned Hezbollah's attack on the city in which two residents were killed. Does this make it "Zionist" or "pro-Israeli" propaganda? Of course not because it is factual information about the city's history and just like the 1948 killings, it has the right to be mentioned in this part of the article. I hope you understand now why i keep reinserting this info into the article of Shagor. Please answer back and maybe we can negotiate something. P.S. i think you have done a great job on wikipedia and if you dont mind me requesting, i was wondering how you change the name of an article (such as Mohammad Bakri to Mohammed Bakri) thanks -- User: Al Ameer son

Hello, I had realized that these sources were written or documented by mostly pro-Arabs and I have agreed to remove that passage from the article. However I do request including some detail in the capture of the towns that make up Shagor such as, "during the capture of Majd el-Krum 12 male residents were killed, it is not known whether these men were armed or unarmed" or something of that manner -- User: Al Ameer son

RE: Bustan al-Marj

Oh I truly apologize, thank you for correcting it, I used in this case common knowledge and changed it based on the name of the town "Metzar" now has been changed to "Masser" which I assumed to be a Hebrew name. But I know now how strikingly similar Arabic and Hebrew can be so next time I will dig for it.

P.S. If you have found this mistake on Bustan al-Marj can you overlook Al-Batuf regional council. I started it yesterday and I know all four villages are Arab from the souce I used but I'm not sure on the names of the regional council. Thanks, User: Al Ameer son

reversing my edits

I have been on this site long enough to know that the English is terrible and my edits are entirely in keeping with improving it. Thanks to my edits over the past few weeks, two articles on Israel have received featured article status. You are not a native speaker of English, and I happen to be a professional editor. I have also edited and translated many books on the pioneers. I suggest you think about that before you remove what I have done.
