You have done good work on the List of palaces and manor houses in Estonia. I would encourage you to learn how to create talk pages with the appropriate WikiProject templates, and how to add See also entries for like articles in the other two Baltic states. You can see some examples where I have added talk page templates and See also sections or entries to articles you have created. I am doing this for new articles on a wide variety of topics, but I encourage those who create new articles to also create new talk pages, too. Few tips about DYK. First, DYK articles need to have 1500 characters of prose, so it seems too short at the moment. I personally use that website [1] as it shows characters without spaces, so prose part can be easily copied and measured (it counts citations too which shouldn't be counted, but that will matter only in close borderline cases). Second, I would suggest including image in nomination whenever good one with no licensing issues is available. Its sort of hit and miss as only 1 of 7 DYKs get image on main page, but always worth trying if there is good image available (that portrait looks good enough). Finally, there were some formatting issues in your nomination which I tried to fix [2], main article should be bolded, and it seems that you forgot to put your name where author goes then creating nomination.--Staberinde (talk) 18:30, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, as so productive newcomers are very rare find, I felt that I should try to help along. It is very easy to mess up various formatting details in wikipedia. Btw, I nominated your Holy Ghost Church article too [3]. You should add class=stub for one or two references, or class=start for three or more inline citations. In general, importance=low for most of your articles. I'll be glad to help out if I can. A question though - in many cases it seems to be easy to asses the importance as low and the quality as stub (a lot of stubs out there...) but are there any guidelines if I'm unsure? There are a lot of stubs, 0, or 1, or 2 references. 3 or more is start, and you may see some start articles with less than 2. Change articles with 3 or more references to start, and remove stub tags in the article. Sometimes a stub has more references added, but stub is not changed. Leave any article without a class, or an importance, if you are unsure, and I will fix them when there are only a few left.--DThomsen8 (talk) 17:28, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society[edit]

Thank you for your offer to help. I need it. First question: how do I know I am dealing with someone who can help while yet anoher person is busily reviewing and removing what I put on the page? Someone named singularity42 has been busy behind the scenes undoing what I am trying to accomplish. If you advise me what to do, how can I prevent some other wikipedian from disagreeing and overriding it?

Next question: what constitute a reliable, non-trivial source? I have read the section regarding such and need understanding of: - newspaper articles and whether they are considered reliable, trusted, non-trivial, etc. for instance, an article in a large, regional paper that praises the society for its role in preserving historical sites. Is that non-trivial? - what about the need to link to non-trivial sources? To use the same example, what if the article has not yet been digitized,exists only in hard-copy or on microfilm, and thus can't be linked <a href =".."> or whatyever wiki's syntax is? Is a criterion for trusted/reliable/non-trivial that the source acvtually be online?

About the article being an orphan because no other articles link to it: sorry, I don't understand this. How does one construct a set of articles where one of the articles is the top of the pyramid, so to speak, and the other articles are sub-topics? At present none of the other, subsidiary articles exist and therefore can't point back to the parent; but they will over time assuming I survive this experience. Also, don't categories count as links?

Hi, I'm sorry I didn't see that Singularity42 is already engaged in trying to help you. I don't want to jump into your discussion, not least since Singularity42 is a more experienced editor than I am and it looks to me as though he or she is really trying to help you out here. I guess that would be my answer to your first question. It may seem frustrating, but as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is important to have verifiable, sound sources. If you do have them - whether on-line of off-line - you should name them and incorporate them into the article; I'm afraid nothing else will do the trick.

About your second question, I also think Singularity42 is trying to point you in the right direction. As an addition to what he/she has already said, see WP:SOURCEACCESS. Basically, off-line sources are just as reliable as on-line sources. But you still have to tell the reader of the article what they are.

About the article being an orphan, it simply means that no articles on Wikipedia at this stage links to it. This is not as pressing an issue. But eventually, you might wish to visit other articles on the same subject, and try to link them to this one, so that one can move easily between Wikipedia-articles.

Thank you both for trying to help, and please accept my apologies for being frustrated. Unfortunately (for me) I attempted to create 3 different articles at the same time - 1 for a person, 1 for a place, 1 for an organization - to get a feel for how to go about it for each type of page I am interested in setting up (i.e. infobox types). And I ran into a buzz-storm of what was wrong with them, wih no less than 6 people reviewing them, sometimes with different opinions and somewhat contradictory advice. My fault for taking on a bit too much on my first outing. What I would ask is that you bear with me on two fronts: - understanding what is acceptable as a reliable, non-trivial source; yes, I've read the definitions but that doesn't mean I fully understand them. I will be inserting what I hope are acceptable sources in the article - I can't devote more than a short time to this just now. I will try to make modifications daily, to see what sticks and what doesn't, but if/when I don't get it right and don't make revisions per your comments please understand that I'm off doing other things and will get to it as soon as time allows.

And I understand your frustration completely, and I for my part would like to apologise for that, since it's also the more experienced editors' responsibility to be nice to newbies and I was acting too rashly in starting to tag your article when another user was already helping you out. It's really great to see these churches on the main page as DYKs. I notice several of the churches you have been covering have medieval frescos. I was wondering whether we should add a category Category:Church frescos in Sweden along the lines of Category:Church frescos in Denmark. The wall paintings in southern Sweden certainly seem to be an important aspect of Swedish art (see Category:Swedish art). Maybe the church frescos should also be specifically mentioned in the Medieval and Gothic Art section of the article on Swedish art. As you probably know, many of the church frescos in Scania are similar to those in Denmark, some apparently being painted by the same artists or workshops. I have tried to provide a more extensive introduction to the Danish frescos in Church frescos in Denmark. Thanks for your feedback! I've read the article about Danish church frescos, it's really great. I think it's a good idea to do as you propose, as especially on mainland Sweden there are even more interesting frescos. There is actually a mention about the most famous known fresco master, Albertus Pictor in the Swedish art article, but it could probably be expanded and re-written. Glad you found my suggestion interesting. As you've probably seen, I've already created the Category:Church frescos in Sweden and am happy to say that I have been able to add 32 articles to it, although some are still rather scanty. I was also interested to see how many of your Gotland churches were relevant. There's no rush to write a specific article on the general subject now but it may be interesting to create articles about some of the Swedish churches noted for their frescos which have not yet been covered. I see there are quite a few. Maybe we should start with some of those which already have images in Commons (see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Frescos_in_Swedish_Churches). The Danish Nordens Kirker has also covered many historic churches in Scania (see http://www.nordenskirker.dk/Alfabetisk.htm where you can simply scan through the article for "Skåne") and has the advantage of providing Creative Commons photographs which can immediately be used in Wikipedia articles: you will find most of them are already on Commons. More pertinent information can be found by simply doing a Google search on "kalkmålningar". There is of course also lots of interesting information in the Swedish Wikipedia - see http://sv.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AS%C3%B6k&profile=default&search=kalkm%C3%A5lningar&fulltext=Search&searchengineselect=mediawiki although unfortunately the articles are usually poorly referenced. I don't want to bog you down in too much information at this stage but I do seriously think it would be a good idea to write new articles about some of the Swedish churches noted for their frescos, and perhaps enhance some of the existing articles with additional information and images. I don't want to promise too much of my time (I tend to get involved in all kinds of things in addition to my special interest in Denmark and Luxembourg) but I would be happy to assist as time permits. Maybe we could share some of the work. I have a good working knowledge of Swedish in addition to Danish. Sorry for my late answer, I didn't see your reply until late yesterday for some reason. You've done a lot of work already I can see! My intention is actually to write a few more articles about the churches on Gotland and then probably move on to churches in Uppland, where I know there are plenty of churches with wonderful frescos - I was visiting one of them this weekend, actually. An idea is to split the work according to province? Isn't there quite a bit of literature about churches in Skåne i Danish, for example? After all, it was Danish at the time. (And I see you've already made some work there!) It's an idea, at least. Please come with suggestions of interesting churches if you have, in Skåne or elsewhere, and I'll be happy to start digging. I have a reasonably good library nearby, and there's quite some good information available there which can't be found on the internet, so I can perhaps dig a bit deeper as well. Thanks for your appreciative comments. One thing you could add on Uppsala is a bit of background on the frescos which decorate the vaults and walls of the nave. They are clearly visible in several of the photographs on Commons (including the one in the article) and though I have found references to their rediscovery, I have found nothing on the artists involved, the workshops, etc. Some may even have been completely repainted by Zettervall & Co. Without having any sources right now, I remember having heard several times that Zetterwall supposedly destroyed more than he restored, and tried to make the Cathedral more "medieval" than the medieval church itself was, but there may be a touch of urban legend to that. You might be interested to hear that I've finally found some details of the old frescos in a presentation on the six "Uppsala domkyrka" volumes published in 2010. The overview by Jan von Bonsdorff also gives lots of useful architectural details. You can access it here. It therefore looks as if the fresco decorations in the nave came with Zettervall at the end of the 19th century. Looks like it went of anyway. And I was Not meaning YOU by saying that this could have managed better. It was not you who got that article off the queue (well it was really prep) and quite undiplomatically removed the tick - well, that was a bit upsetting, and the problem was not so big, as stated - so there was no need really for all this, I really feel sad that it hurt people who worked with it and it was not fair.
