Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

This is exactly the kind of problem that blindly creating links creates. You made a bunch of red links and one to a disambigation page, none of the names on which are the one intended. This is not an improvement to the article in any respect. So I have reverted it. Please see WP:REDNOT. While it does not forbid the creation of red links, it says "Red links to personal names should be avoided—particularly when the name is reported in a context which might cause readers to hold a low or critical opinion of the named individual. Frequently a red-linked name has been placed in an article, and subsequently a different editor has created an article about an entirely different person with the same or a similar name. Aside from the basic misidentification this results in, red-linking has led to notable, but not very prominent persons being incorrectly identified on Wikipedia as accused or convicted criminals, sex workers, or persons involved in or associated with other forms of conduct they might consider disreputable. No problem, hope I didn't seem too doctrinaire. Another thing to note: if an edit is reverted, and you still disagree, go to the article's talk page and thrash it out, start a topic if there isn't one already. Actually this is the first time I've had a conversation with other editors here :) Since until now, all my edits have been extremely minor - correcting spellings/grammar, adding links to pages and getting rid of superfluous information that might not be neutral. Just another query, Barsoomian - how come there's no individual episode pages for Primeval-New World yet? It's not quite as popular as the original series? Not many TV show episodes do have their own articles. Only three of the UK Primeval do, for instance. They need to be independently "notable". That means, not just a list of actors and a few paragraphs about the plot. There has to be cited reviews from reliable sources. I haven't found many reviewing it at all. But if you do have enough such info, you can create articles. Let me know if you do and need help. Maybe the Pilot episode has enough written about it.Barsoomian (talk) 18:14, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
