Hello, Wmpearl. As it is the first of the month and your talk page was extremely long, I have archived it for you. All of your past messages are on a subpage of this one that you can access by clicking the link above. I hope you don't mind. Thank you, Lithoderm. You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:14, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blackamoors[edit]

Please explain your redirect of the article Blackamoors (decorative arts). The article does not only discuss sculptures, and indeed the term may not even be appropriate even to some three dimensional works. The article covers sculpture, decorative items, signs, flags etc. Paul B (talk) 12:26, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bit rich that you lecture me on procedure, while clearly demonstrating that you have no knowledge of the relevant one. When two pages exist to be merged, a merger will inevitably leave the page history of the merged article at the redirect. That does not eliminate it. It can still be found at the redirect. That is not a cut-and-paste move to a new title. It's a merger. I suggest you read WP:merger. I know of no procedure to merge two distinct page revision histories. I can only assume that you did not check that the decorative arts page pre-existed the merger, nor did you read the contents of the page. So you now criticise me for not using the move button, which would not have been possible, while cutting and pasting yourself! However, thank you for adding the 'merge from' tag. Paul B (talk) 11:43, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Artists from Hawaii vs. Hawaii artists[edit]

Based on an edit you made to an article on my watchlist, I see that you have moved the entries from Category:Artists from Hawaii to Category:Hawaii artists. I'm not sure what practical difference this makes and I wanted to gain a better understanding of why this category should be structured differently from the other 49 states included in the parent Category:American artists by state. Perhaps we should rename the other categories to match the one for Hawaii, but we should probably try to be consistent across all states. Alansohn (talk) 15:21, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I created the category "Hawaii artists" for visual artists who were born in, have lived in, have worked in or been involved with Hawaii. 31 January 2009 Cydebot renamed the category "Artists from Hawaii", even though most of the artists listed are not FROM Hawaii, and some visited only briefly. I have no objection to the category “Artists from Hawaii", but it would be conceptually different from "Hawaii artists".Wmpearl (talk) 18:39, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that the parent Category:American artists by state is intended to organize artists *from* each of the 50 states, not artists who have worked or been involved with the state. For consistency with the 49 other state categories, would it be possible to segregate these artists by their connection to Hawaii, putting those who are from or who have lived in Hawaii in the Category:Artists from Hawaii, while those who visited only briefly and haven't lived in the state remain in Category:Hawaii artists? P.S. I shifted your reply here so that we can keep the conversation in one place. Alansohn (talk) 20:20, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you completely Wmpearl (talk) 20:29, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The goddess pele by arthur johnsen.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:The goddess pele by arthur johnsen.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:The Barker (Self Portrait) by Max Beckmann, 1921, Dayton Art Institute.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:The Barker (Self Portrait) by Max Beckmann, 1921, Dayton Art Institute.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Invitation to WikiAPA Edit-a-thon: "We Are Here" to Stay[edit]

I hope that you are doing well and having a great week. I saw that you had attended the 2019 edit-a-thon at Honolulu Museum of Art and wanted to share details about a Smithsonian Wikipedia edit-a-thon we will be hosting in Honolulu this month. You can find details below:

We would like to invite you to attend our in-person event, WikiAPA Edit-a-thon: "We Are Here" to Stay on October 26 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM HST, which is hosted by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center (APAC), The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, and the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative.

"We Are Here" to Stay’s purpose is to ensure pivotal Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders figures are represented on Wikipedia and Wikidata. Specifically, the event focuses on the people from the newly published anthology, We Are Here: 30 Inspiring Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Shaped the United States.

As one of the web’s most visited reference sites, Wikipedia serves as a starting point for many who are looking to learn about art, history, and science. However, less than 19% of Wikipedia biographies in English represent women, and there are considerable gaps on Wikipedia related to Asian American and Pacific Islander history as well as topics about nonbinary and transgender people.

To fill the gap, this event encourages collaboration amongst cultural heritage professionals and Wikipedians to contribute their knowledge and expertise. During this event, attendees of all wiki experience levels are welcome and will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia by updating articles related to the We Are Here anthology. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop for the event.

Please visit our Eventbrite page to register for this event. Because this is an in-person event, spots are limited so please register as soon as possible. You can find more information about the event by visiting our Wikipedia Project Page. If you have any questions or concerns about the event please contact the Wikimedia Coordinator, Mia Cariello, at cariellom@si.edu. CarCai (talk) 19:28, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I recently un-deleted this image after finding evidence that it's been out of copyright in the United States since 2021. I know it's been over a decade, but would you have any idea where you obtained the image originally? I can't find anything exactly like it online. If you do know, please add it to the image description page. Thanks, Wikiacc () 01:30, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
