Disambiguation link notification for March 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Marvin Gaye, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Depression. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Removal of information that is "redundant" to infoboxes[edit]

Hi, Wk. I notice you have made a number of edits recently where you removed text from articles because the same information is also listed in an infobox. I believe you have misunderstood how infoboxes work in relation to article content. Infoboxes summarize key points, but it is expected that the same information would also be in the text of the article. You may want to take a look at WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE for more about this. I encourage you to reverse these recent changes. --RL0919 (talk) 23:43, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello RL0919. Thank you for reaching out to me. I do agree and perhaps I should have used a modified reason for reverting. Based on other film articles for short films (using the Laurel and Hardy filmography as a guide), the mention of the Stooges names in the opening paragraph is redundant since it already states that this is a film starring the Three Stooges. Their names then appear in the text of the page, usually in the plot. The pages have been like this for quite a few years and the addition of the Stooges' names adds nothing to the page that is not already there. In short, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Your thoughts. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 23:54, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that is a more complex situation than just redundancy with an infobox. I don't think it is an exact parallel to Laurel and Hardy, since the lineup for the Stooges did vary. If the actors' full names appear in the body of the article (for example, if there is a Cast section, or actor names are mentioned parenthetically after character names in the Plot section), then it's arguable whether the detail of the lineup needs to be in the lead -- it becomes a lead vs. body question rather than infobox vs. article text. But actor names don't appear anywhere else except the infobox, then it should be put in the text somewhere. Also, it looks like some of the reverts took out other details, such as the year of release, which does belong in the lead of film articles. So at the least I think the changes should be made a bit more carefully. --RL0919 (talk) 00:45, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I agree with User:RL0919. The year of release certainly belongs in the lead; it is now missing from Slippery Silks and some others I checked. It is good for the lead to specify which Stooge lineup is featured. Film articles from the Laurel and Hardy filmography may not be the best guide to follow, as the articles are of variable quality. It would be better to follow the model of A Cure for Pokeritis, How Brown Saw the Baseball Game, Alien vs. Predator (film), and other film Featured Articles (listed here). Ewulp (talk) 00:58, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, not a problem. Nothing that cannot be fixed. I will go through these articles today and readd the info in a less klunky fashion. Thanks all. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 15:41, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me; thanks for your openness to feedback. --RL0919 (talk) 00:39, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. Frankly, I take the rotating Stooge line-up for granted, thinking any casual viewer knows there were several "third" stooges; hence the reason not to mention it from the get go." I started rewriting yesterday. Will try to wrap up by Monday.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 17:22, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BLP discretionary sanctions alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Karen Valentine. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Replaceable fair use File:Cb-pub-still.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cb-pub-still.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:04, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:3stooges-have-rocket-will-travel-colpix.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:3stooges-have-rocket-will-travel-colpix.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Telling Whoppers Title Card[edit]

You continue to insist that the opening title card you've shared on the Telling Whoppers page is the original, and ask for "proof" when it's been removed.

As mentioned by another editor, the card in question was Photoshoped using a photograph of Joe Cobb taken a good 2-3 years after Telling Whoppers was produced. You can find it easily with a Google search, which is likely what the editor of the card did. In fact, many of the title cards for the silent films circulating the web right now are fan made. Well-made, yes. But nevertheless non-originals.

Furthermore, none of the Our Gang title cards from that period (pre-1936 - aside from 1932's Free Wheeling) used photographs of the kids. Some of the earliest ones used illustrations of the cast, but by the time of Telling Whoppers, Hal Roach Studio title cards typically used a more generic look.

So where is the original title card for Telling Whoppers? It's lost, like so many of the others. Comedy3 (talk) 05:52, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok, thank you for clarifying. Either way, there is no harm retaining it since a recreated title card is better than leaving the spot blank.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 23:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Chipmunks See Doctor Dolittle requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at [[{{{value1}}}]]. Some problems with your edits[edit]

Thanks for adding some material here but I have to revert for several reasons. First, you cited an invalid source with Discogs.com. Secondly, you've changed the track listing to use {{track listing}} but why? Finally, you've included the small HTML tag when there is no fine print in the article. Can you please explain why you made these three changes? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 19:01, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To add: I'm also confused as to why you added songwriters using the Note field. Why did you do this? Also, why did you include the back cover of the album? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 19:16, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for not highlighting reasons behind the changes. 1. I was unaware that discogs is an invalid source, particularly since the proof is indisputable based on photo uploads of original album releases. 2. The track listing required additional details and was incorrectly formatted as it pertained 1988, 2006 and 2014 re-releases. It appears those tracks were thrown in without regard to format. 3. The new format is consistent with other articles pertaining to this artist. See Jazz Impressions of A Boy Named Charlie Brown, The Eclectic Vince Guaraldi and Oaxaca (album). In general, most classic albums should be represented by their original release, with notes added pertaining to remasters, re-releases and such. 4. The rear cover was added for historical purposes because it is part of the original release and is not included in any re-releases. Please advise why these are issues. It appears this is nitpicking and splitting hairs when sources are added. Are these "problems" or are these just questions as to why? For an article that is as high profile as this one, it needed a considerable amount of formatting.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 19:24, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wk3v78k23tnsa, 1.) Yes, this is an issue: Discogs is an invalid source. If your source is the liner notes to an album, then cite those instead of a scan of them on a third-party site that accepts user submissions. Why would that be better than using the actual source itself? 2.) Yes, this is an issue: there are several valid ways of styling a track listing and existing styles should be retained. Additionally, randomly inserting things that have semantic meaning like small because... you like to? is bad form and in some measure hostile to the intelligibility of the page. 3.) Yes, this is an issue: by your own reasoning, these articles should have track listings as plain lists per MOS:VAR. 4.) Yes, this is an issue: as I noted in the deletion nomination, this violates WP:NFCC#8. It is not "splitting hairs" for me to revert you for adding invalid sources (and seeming to have no understanding of WP:RS), inserting nonsense semantic content, and including non-free media without a valid rationale. I'm happy to have your help collaborating on this but the fact that you don't understand the importance of these issues is concerning. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 22:11, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking the time to explain. Using small was not done because I "like to" (please cease the MOS:YOU). I had seen this format style at some point in the past and used it moving forward. That's all. I will use proper format moving forward. WP:AAGF. In all my years of using Wiki, I have never had issues with source citing until now so the accusation of "seeming to have no understanding of WP:RS" is grossly insulting. Thank you kindly.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 22:16, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wk3v78k23tnsa, It was not clear to me why you used that tag, so thank you for explaining. I was assuming good faith that you were trying to improve the encyclopedia and sure enough, many of the changes you made were improvements, so I tried to temper my criticism with appreciation: I respect anyone who gives free labor to this project. Since WP:RS is a pretty key extension of WP:OR, I take it pretty seriously. It so happens that I recently looked at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources and learned quite a bit myself, so I would encourage you to take a peek there to see some sources considered acceptable and not acceptable by that project. All of us have things to learn (myself included) and all of us have things to give (yourself included), so I appreciate you working with me to make this reference work better. Thanks again and pardon me if my tone was too hostile. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:43, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Again, do not insert {{track listing}} per MOS:VAR and WP:ALBUMSTYLE. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:45, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Just so I am clear. Formats contained in articles like Halcyon Days (Ellie Goulding album)#Track listing and Man of the Woods#Track listing are NOT correct, but your unique version is. Got it. I did not realize you were a Wiki legend with his own self-serving Wiki autobiography. Cheers Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 00:28, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wk3v78k23tnsa, How is that what you got from me saying, "There are multiple ways to do the same thing"? I never wrote that one style is right and one is wrong: what I wrote was that since there are multiple styles, the existing style for that page should be retained. What is with your grossly negative and rude attitude? I could just as easily say, "Your unique version is right. Got it." but I don't write things like that because I'm trying to treat you like an adult with respect. Shame on you for this post. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:52, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Per MOS:VAR and WP:ALBUMSTYLEGUIDE, please stop changing the type of track listing you find in articles. Thanks. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:15, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. There is a clear template that is to be used. Template:Track listing. It is reiterated in the very source you cited - [[2]]. I am uncertain why you are choosing to ignore this as you have made no clear argument nor are any templates cited in your change lot. It clearly says there are several ways to do this, v. one over the other. This is clearly a personal preference of yourse that requires further discussion.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 18:22, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wk3v78k23tnsa, It is not "to be used" it can be used. Don't go to articles that already have an established style and change them. I've explained this to you several times and pointed you to guidelines that say the same. Why do you insist on changing stylistic things to how you like them? Have you looked at MOS:VAR and WP:ALBUMSTYLE? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:31, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wk3v78k23tnsa, Why do you keep on reverting to add this template when you know you're not supposed to? See WP:BRD: you need to post to talk to explain why an existing style should be changed. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Guaraldi articles were all over the map, which is why I chose the new format that allowed occasional notes (something I know is to be used sparingly per Template:Track listing. Your reverts are deleting track lengths, a big no-no. Some albums are a terrible mishmash with error made by lazy record companies lacking quality control; this requires extra formatting to make sense of them. The Template:Track listing makes extra contingencies for these gaffes by record companies. I admit I made a error originally using <small>. My apologies, as I recall seeing that in an article years back. I have ceased using <small>. For know, can we please use Template:Track listing for the Guaraldi entries? It helps in dividing up unique takes. I am always up for compromise. Your thoughts. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 18:40, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, we cannot. Please revert yourself per MOS:VAR. You have shown no comprehension of this page. Have you read it? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:48, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Justin (koavf)TCM. I am following all the work that Wk3v78k23tnsa has done for the Guaraldi entries. That being said, I have reviewed the MOS:VAR and WP:ALBUMSTYLE, the latter which gives quite a few track listing options. For someone like Vince Guaraldi, whose recorded output is a mess, I think Wk3v78k23tnsa is correct to use the formatting option that is specified in more detail Template:Track listing (which I see is a link from WP:ALBUMSTYLE). Wk3v78k23tnsa is also correct to have the "Notes" option available. That being said, I advise Wk3v78k23tnsa to not get into an edit war. As I have posted elsewhere, this is why I never wanted to create a username for Wiki in the first place, since it fosters a generally hostile environment and dominated by a few select editors (no offense meant to Justin (koavf)TCM, but it is true). Either way, thank you both for maintaining these Vince Guaraldi entries. His representation on Wiki was sorely missing and you are both doing a great job! I have a hunch who might be doing those edits. I suspect I have communicated with the person on social media before (using a handle rather than a real name) and the person prefers to make edits anonymously instead of establish a Wiki account. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 22:53, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitrary?[edit]

Rather than comment on my "careless work", you could avoid the public personal attack by focussing on the content instead of the contributor. Secondly, it was not arbitrary. You commented on my talk page asking for a reason, and I supply with every edit summary. If you can't find the edit summaries, I can show you how to. If you don't like the reason, a discussion on the talk page of the article is appropriate. In short, I've shown patience with your poor behaviour and I am treating you with respect. I expect you to do the same. Failure to do so will be on your own head. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:08, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Defensive, we are? It was a careless edit to not capitalize a title section. Plus, the discussion you had with newbie User:OldandGood2876 a short while back clearly revolved around the removal of redlinks, which I agree was a valid point. Except there are none now. Articles will eventually be created for the singles that need them. Other singles link to cover versions that have existing articles, negating the issue of redlinks. The reasoning you are citing for reverting is arbitrary and capricious. I will gladly treat any Wiki user with respect when it is deserved but this should have been discussed on the talk page first before reverting again. Considering how small the amount of singles there actually are, this seems like more arbitrary than most reverts. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:AndreaElson-headshot.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AndreaElson-headshot.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:49, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:AndreaElson-headshot.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:AndreaElson-headshot.png.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:39, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading colorized versions of BW photos.[edit]

Hi Wk3v78k23tnsa. I've noticed that you've been recently uploading colorized versions of files such as File:46 RuthGodfreyWhite headshot.jpg and File:Joe Besser.jpg. The are some potential problems with doing such a thing that are currently being discussed at WT:NFCC#Colorized photos/screenshots. You welcome to comment there if you like, but it might be a good idea to slow down a bit until this can be sorted out. Nobody is accusing you of bad-faith or intentionally doing anything wrong; it's just that there may be copyright issues related to the colorized versions your uploading that might be a problem per WP:IUP and WP:NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:00, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi. I appreciate you reaching out to me. I had tried research this before uploading but could find anything. Thank you for sharing WP:IUP, WP:NFCC and WT:NFCC#Colorized photos/screenshots. I'll stop for now. Do not want to invest time in uploading only to have it deleted. Many thanks. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 17:45, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's been suggested that the updated colorized versions you uploaded be reverted back to the previous black and white versions. If you agree with this suggestion, then you can help out by going back and doing the reverting yourself. If you disagree with this, then you probbaly should explain why in the WT:NFCC discussion so others can respond. If you do nothing, the files will likely be reverted by someone else and fairly soon before the older balack and white versions are deleted per WP:F5. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:13, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:ABNCB70Columbia.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in A Boy Named Charlie Brown#A Boy Named Charlie Brown: Selections from the Film Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:24, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The above also applies to File:Abncb-soundtrack-cd-cover.jpg. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:32, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wk3v78k23tnsa,

Thank you for creating Once Again (Peter Tork and James Lee Stanley album).

Notice

The article Live/Backstage at the Coffee Gallery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Insufficient references for notability. Article does not meet requirements for WP:Music, which specifies independent, reliable secondary sources. Note that monkeeslivealmanac.com is a primary source and not a reference.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Whiteguru (talk) 00:14, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me understand: where do you see monkeeslivealmanac.com listed as a source? AllMusic is currently listed as a source. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 16:37, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! Notice

The file File:BB Bluebird.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Image insufficiently supported by critical commentary. A-side track of the specific release already conveyed in text and understood by readers. Portion not proven contextually significant to the whole song.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:GreatPumpkinCBBuenaVista.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:GreatPumpkinCBBuenaVista.jpg.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 03:03, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Plot summaries[edit]

It is all right to change wording that is inaccurate, or overlong, but some of your changes (e.g. "subterrestrial" for "underground", "generate funds" for "raise money", "populace of" for "all of') are not justifiable on either of those bases and appear to be merely flaunting vocabulary. Please keep in mind that articles exist to be read, and not only by you. 2601:642:4600:D3B0:28F1:6B97:451F:274E (talk) 15:10, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (List of I Dream of Jeannie episodes) for a period of 2 weeks for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 15:08, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at A Ducking They Did Go, you may be blocked from editing. To put it in plain English: what the fuck was that? Bbb23, you had to read similarly indigestible prose when you looked at the I Dream of Jeannie edits--I feel for you. Drmies (talk) 02:24, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Drmies: I read "indigestible prose" all the time, no doubt more frequently than the digestible kind. I find if you keep hydrated, you avoid the worst of it. :p BTW, the edits you're highlighting happened in early March. The user hasn't edited since my partial block. Here's to good food and good prose! --Bbb23 (talk) 13:09, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just imagine how it feels to have this done to your article after you've worked long and hard on wording... Chafe66 (talk) 22:19, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although commendable, it is apparent that insufficient investment was allocated to the composition of these narratives. The discernible shortcomings in punctuation, sentence structure, and excessive verbosity render them of a substandard quality, particularly in accordance with the succinct guidelines upheld by Wikipedia. Specifically, see MOS:TVPLOT, MOS:PLOTLENGTH and MOS:FILMPLOT. Also WP:TV, WP:MOSTVm MOS:ENGVAR, MOS:CONTRACTIONS. Thank you kindly. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 01:44, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pity there are so few in the U.S. that can read with a high level of intelligence. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 01:13, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please get a consensus for your version on the article's talk page. I made an edit on behalf of a user that had a false positive on an edit filter. If you resume edit-warring on this, you will be blocked for a longer duration. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:18, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, we can read your prose, we just can't digest it. Now, please stop editing while logged-out--and that also goes for the IPs you use to make these little edits to short article descriptions. Drmies (talk) 20:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bbb23, this one was particularly foolish--do you remember when people were writing those funny summaries of "I like Big Butts"? Note the insult, above, about intelligence. CU does not confirm them with User talk:24.206.78.50 but I have technical reasons to believe that they are the same, besides insults like this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmies (talkcontribs)
Hey, Drmies, good thing (sort of) that I have this user on my watchlist because you forgot to sign, so the ping didn't work. That IP looks like a proxy to me, no? I guess I'm trying to understand why Wk3v78k23tnsa's (why do we allow usernames like this?) block hasn't been changed to sitewide and indefinitely. As for your comment about butts, nope, I don't remember, sorry.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:41, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good evening Drmies. None of the highlighted [edits are attributed to my authorship. Engaging in deceitful practices, such as sock puppetry, is not a pursuit I would undertake. Rather, it seems plausible that they stem from an unidentified Warner Bros. enthusiast within the Wikipedia community, devoid of a registered username. Noteworthy is the discernible proclivity towards employing immature invectives and terse expressions, which may be attributed to the aforementioned source. Also, your preemptive expression of contrition regarding the intentional mistreatment of Wikipedia contributors striving to elevate the standard of discourse through WP:GF edits is duly acknowledged. Thank you kindly.Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 00:59, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My absence of a block on Wikipedia is supported by several factors. Firstly, I refrain from participating in any form of vandalism. Secondly, all of my edits are made in WP:GOODFAITH and adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the Wikipedia Manual of Style WP:MOS. Thirdly, I have ceased involvement in edit conflicts and have instead opted to file an incident report. I am content with the outcome of this report, wherein both parties involved were equitably penalized. Lastly, my extensive and esteemed edit history underscores my commitment to WP:EDITORINTEGRITY within the Wikipedia community. Thank you kindly. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 01:07, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You forgot your modesty.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:38, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, quick question. First of all, this text is 100% AI-generated, according to GPTZero. That's not a thing we do here. Second, ""hideous, verbose prose" only to individuals exhibiting deficiencies in fundamental reading comprehension abilities"--is that individual me? Or is it User talk:71.191.145.35? Or is it User:Railfanner33 and, by extension, User:Ohnoitsjamie? All of us? Bbb23, GPTZero also suggests that the user's comments here are AI-generated--in case you were wondering where that prose came from. Drmies (talk) 03:32, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per Wikipedia, GPTZero is also notorious for its alarming amount of false positives. Since that was the first point of alleged verification, I believe you answered the question you posed in the fourth sentence above. Your galloping paranoia is both humorous and quite disconcerting. I have no issue whatsoever with any other Wiki users cited in this exchange. Your tone is juvenile, belligerent and acutely boorish. Remember that we cannot all strive to be Steven Pruitt. Feel free to run this paragraph through the GPTZero filtration mechanism.
To User talk:Ohnoitsjamie's point: as an admitted WP:GNOME, I will make an effort to achieve consensus in the pursuit of enhancing coherence, brevity and clarity within plot narrative structures that veer into somewhat "hideous, verbose prose" territory (I will tone down the academic verbiage). Please note that I will only aim for consensus to avoid mitigate instances of misinterpretation by WP:SYSOP as WP:VANDAL. We certainly do not want to run the risk of being the subject of discussions within editorials of similar nature: Wikipedia’s volunteer editors are fleeing online abuse. Cheers, mates. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 14:17, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your tone is juvenile, belligerent and acutely boorish. I believe that answers your question, Drmies, as to the target of the user's attack. @Wk3v78k23tnsa, you're very close to an indefinite block as WP:NOTHERE, among other problems, so I strongly urge you to keep your pompous, pretentious prose - whether AI-generated or your own - to yourself, particularly in articles but also in discussions (all editors must discuss issues in a collaborative, constructive fashion).--Bbb23 (talk) 14:56, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
GPTZero is not "notorious for its alarming amount of false positives." (I assume you mean frequency of false positives.) First, the WP article you cite (GPTZero) only says that the false positives have "been the source of criticism," and elsewhere quotes another source which claims a 20% false positive rate. However, in this peer-reviewed article (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10519776/), the FP rate is only 10%. Not bad! So in essence their claim of AI generated content by "you" has a probability of being wrong of around 10-20%. That makes the AI attribution worth mentioning. After looking at your edits, I earlier wondered the same thing... Chafe66 (talk) 08:14, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
