The District Bia District was renamed to Bia West District after it was divided into two District. The Bia East District which has Sefwi Adabokrom as it's capital was curved from the then Bia District now Bia West District in 2012. Sefwi Essam reamins the administrative capital of the Dictrict. Currently, the District has about 45 electoral area.
