Image copyright problem with Image:SomersCrossFlagVER2.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SomersCrossFlagVER2.svg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 10:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:BCS.svg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BCS.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your copyright claims for converted files[edit]

The file that you uploaded at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AHS_Eagles_Logo.svg includes a claim that it is entirely your own work and a statement that you release it into the public domain. However, it appears to be a file conversion, from gif to svg, of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AHS_Eagles_Logo.gif, which was up-loaded months ago by another user. That file was uploaded from http://www.americanhighboosters.com/ and makes a fair use claim. The Boosters site does not have a copy of the gif file that I can find right now, but the image is visible on some of their spirit wear. See [1]. Unless you are the creator of the original art--the image used by the Boosters--your copyright claim on the svg file is false and your release to the public domain is invalid. Meanwhile you have orphaned the gif image, which will soon be deleted as a result. You need to correct the information on this upload to demonstrate that you hold valid copyright or to include the fair use claim and all of the other information that User:Sukh17 included.--Hjal (talk) 16:50, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop uploading copyrighted images as your own work. Simply converting an image to another file type does not give you ownership of the logo, and you cannot release company logos into the public domain. All logos you have uploaded as your own are copyright violations and will be deleted. - auburnpilot talk 18:01, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems a shame - I don't know how to change them into fair-use. I was just helping Wikipedia I thought I dont want to claim any rights over the images. But if you want to delete them - fine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WillT.Net (talkcontribs)
What you need to do is add a proper fair use rationale, source information, copyright information, and license information. Essentially, explain where logo was found, who owns the rights to the logo, and why it is acceptable for us to use the logo (then tag it with {{Non-free logo}}). See Image:NetMotion Wireless Logo.gif for an example of what needs to be included on every fair use image you upload. - auburnpilot talk 18:24, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:TimeBombInAPipe.svg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:TimeBombInAPipe.svg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:TimeBombInAPipe.svg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image copyright problem[edit]

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fake flag. Actual flag at File:Flag of Normandie.svg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
