Thank you for your enquiry. The references at issue were wholly redundant as applied (to the passage in the Lede); when I made my edit I did not realize they were employed elsewhere in the article: I should have looked closer. Happily, AnomieBOT [(talk | contribs)‎ (7,057 bytes) (Rescuing orphaned refs ("oxford" from rev 476063039; "rodell" from rev 476063039))] rescued and reintroduced them later in the article where they were relevant. Great works

Thanks for the heads-up, Dave. I think a hat is OK for now, since there are only two pages sharing "Great Works" and one can only end up at the River's page by adding that descriptor to their search.

There are two Great Works Dams, one on the Great Works River, a much larger (and more newsworthy one) on the Penobscott in Down East (Maine). The latter is/was scheduled for removal in 2012 (to accommodate fish migration). Its license to operate was set to expire March 31, 2012.[3] I'm not sure where the project stands.

Last, there is a Great Works Land Trust[4] and a Great Works River Watershed Coalition[5], both dedicated to the subject of the current Wikipedia page. If any of these other entities come to meet Wikipedia notability guidelines and earn pages then a dab would be warranted. Cheers.Wikiuser100 (talk) 18:55, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your copyedits to Junior Seau. The infobox lists him as being born in San Diego, though it is not in the body. A source can probably be cited and added to the text. You're welcome. I never thought to look in the Infobox for place of birth. It would be helpful to be added to the Early Years section, as obviously I was confused as the copy bounced from Pago-Pago to an unspecified "Camp Pendleton" (before I added a general geographic reference for those who otherwise would not have a clue where it was) to American Samoa and back to the U.S.

Readers who are not familiar with the NFL can figure out in a single click what sport it is, but that rationale is weak (as it would apply to an unspecified Camp Pendleton as well). Typically, we would list the subject's nationality and profession in the lead sentence of a bio, like "American basketball player", but American American football player doesnt seem right. Based on a quick sampling of articles, it doesnt seem that Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League has a standard either, other than to assume most NFL players are usually American.—Bagumba (talk) 15:54, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

See WP:OPENPARAGRAPH. Birth/death place typically not mentioned in lead, but this might be the exception as "they are relevant to the person's notability." Not sure if they belong in the first sentence though, even if they are placed in the lead.—Bagumba (talk) 16:10, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm fine with it the way it is. As a preference, though, I like those four items of info there so I don't have to hunt around for them. Not every bio has an Infobox displaying them. Allard

Hi Wikiuser100. I've noticed your amendments to Allard and I don't really know enough to comment except that the opening paragraph does not now, it seems to me, make sense. The events - as I understand them - you may know better, were that 25 yr-old Sydney Allard used a spare corner in the premises of his father's Putney Ford dealership to make some specials beginning about 1936 and by the start of the war in 1939 he had made about a dozen. After the war in 1945 he took over some war-surplus premises three miles away in Clapham that his father no longer needed, incorporated the company to own the business and made Allard cars. Yes it can be said that he started making cars in 1936 but the company didn't exist for nearly another decade. Best wishes Eddaido (talk) 12:14, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Hold on, you've added content in the lead (by re-writing it as you believe it should be) and your result is misleading and confusing. I'm just trying to help you understand (by giving you a fuller version of the events you tried to summarise) what has gone wrong with your edit. Do you see the problem? Hi Wikiuser100. I wanted to explain to you why I deleted this, since you had a left a detailed note on the talk page. First and foremost, the article did not explain what makes the company significant - it just sounds like a small, specialist company of which there are millions. As you left a note I did have a search for possible references which could be added to the article and explain its significance, but couldn't find anything beyond very brief mentions. thank you for your interest in cleaning up articles. I know, It is a tedious work not many wikipedians like much. However when you are dealing with unfamiliar subjects you mast be extremely careutious with rephrasing, especially moving thihgs around. In praticular you got yourself quite confused with Cossacks. Therefore I had to revert you. Sorry I killed other your cleanup. If you are not willing to repeat the job, I will restore your cosmetic changes in the page a bit later, in spare time. Yes I explained why: you are quite confused on the subject (Also later I noticed you start your own guesswork without comparing your hypotheses against article text, which was refernced, by the way. Reverting a referenced text is a no-no, unless you can prove that the references are misquoted or orther serious reasons.).
