You are invited to the National Archives ExtravaSCANza, taking place every day next week from January 4–7, Wednesday to Saturday, in College Park, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area). Come help me cap off my stint as Wikipedian in Residence at the National Archives with one last success!

This will be a casual working event in which Wikipedians are getting together to scan interesting documents at the National Archives related to a different theme each day—currently: spaceflight, women's suffrage, Chile, and battleships—for use on Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. The event is being held on multiple days, and in the evenings and weekend, so that as many locals and out-of-towners from nearby regions1 as possible can come. Please join us! Philadelphia Wiknic[edit]

I will be happy to meet you at the Philadelphia Wiknic on Saturday afternoon. I have been asked to be the facilitator, which only means that I will try to get the Wikipedian attendees to talk about what Philadelphia area editors would like to do in the future, such as recruiting more editors, having events, and what we would like to achieve for Philadelphia or Pennsylvania or nearby state articles. We need to be more organized. I hope you can contribute. --DThomsen8 (talk) 00:08, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What a great event! Thanks for facilitating, Dthomsen8. Will Hopkins (talk) 20:23, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are quite welcome. Could you provide a post-event description?--DThomsen8 (talk) 15:22, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly. About a dozen current and future editors gathered in Penn Park to discuss Wikipedia's role in 21st-century knowledge, and the Philadelphia community's goals in the near future. Like that? Will Hopkins (talk) 18:57, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

CongLinks[edit]

Fill out existing parameters, but don't assume all parameters are listed for each politician. Here's the latest version:

{{CongLinks | congbio = | ballot = | nndb = |
votesmart = | govtrack = | opencong = | rollcall = |
politifact = |
fec = | opensecrets = | assets = | legistorm = | followthemoney = |
ontheissues = | congress = | worldcat = |
c-span = | rose = | imdb = |
bloomberg = | guardian = | nyt = | wsj = | washpo = }}
{{CongLinks | congbio = | ballot = | nndb = | votesmart = | govtrack = | opencong = | rollcall = | politifact = | fec = | opensecrets = | assets = | legistorm = | followthemoney = | ontheissues = | congress = | worldcat = | c-span = | rose = | imdb = | bloomberg = | guardian = | nyt = | wsj = | washpo = }}

Those are in the order displayed. The first one is broken by type, just for readability. The second is what you want to copy. These links have been updated over the years, so there's some lack of consistency in format.

Additional fields can be discussed, but be aware many others simply use the information from the links we already include. Wikipedia is not a link farm, so we're not trying to list everything anyone ever created. Social media links aren't included as they'll be in the official websites if they're being used.

CongLinks is used for both federal and state legislators, both officeholders and candidates. If state level, leave out the links unlikely to ever be used. I generally include just these parameters: ballot, nndb, votesmart, followthemoney, c-span, imdb.

Template:GovLinks is the equivalent for governors and other state executives.

You can check Ballotpedia and Dmoz for other links, but be sure to validate them yourself as they may have errors. Note that Ballotpedia includes the nm prefix for INDb, Wikipedia removed it in CongLinks, but not GovLinks. Cut and paste errors are reduced by using an entire level, but it is what it is. Al so watch out for c-span name) vs. cspan (number). Using the former is preferred. C-SPAN redid their numbering system awhile back, so not all cspan parameters currently link to the right person. Hello Wedittor. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Adam Grant".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Adam Grant}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. —Anne Delong (talk) 17:11, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
