Thanks for the images[edit]
Hi Viniciusmc. I just want to say thank you for tracking down images from 1970s Billboard ads and uploading to WikiCommons – because they add so much to wikipedia. I've found the pics of Apple Studio, the Band, Derek and the Dominos, etc really useful for articles I've been working on. A big thank you from me ... and please keep adding more! - Hi again. Would you be able to help me ... I want to find some ads that appeared in Billboard during the 1960s & 1970s, for singles and albums by George Harrison. I know the dates for when the ads appeared, but can you tell me which site to go to, so I can search inside the issues of Billboard? (By the way, the dates for the issues I want to access are: 14 December 1968; 20 February 1971; 7 August 1971; 11 March 1972; 12 May 1973; 2 June 1973; 24 August 1974; 21 December 1974; 11 October 1975.) There's an ad in the same issue of Billboard (25 December 1971) that you accessed for the Delaney & Bonnie picture, and it's one I really need for a couple of articles. (For example, "The Day the World Gets 'Round", to avoid using too much non-free content.) The ad is for the Concert for Bangladesh live album. As you say, the search tool doesn't always work: I only found it by searching "Apple" (well, it's the only word in the ad!), and then it's page 12 out of a number results. So my question is, if you scanned the Delaney & Bonnie pic, do you actually have this issue yourself – and could you scan the whole Concert for Bangladesh ad (preferably in colour)? Sorry to ask, it's just that I've got a book that reproduces the other Harrison Billboard ads from 1970–75, so I can scan those, but I don't have this Dec 1971 ad. - Oh wow! Thank you so much for doing that ... I can't tell you how helpful it will be in that song article – because now I can remove a whole lot of excess detail that was only there to justify the non-free content. If I could buy you a crate of Brahma (I get the impression you're in Brazil?), I certainly would!
- As far as the other ads go, it would be great if you could do them – but I don't want to put you to too much trouble. You've been so helpful already, and also, I've now found a whole lot of Harrison ads from 1976–81 that I hadn't even thought of before (because the book I have covers only Apple Records releases, from 1970 to '75). Anyway, here's a list I put together, from the first half of the 1970s:
