What's the purpose of changing the edition of Double Play? --Moni3 (talk) 22:08, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The 2010 edition is greatly expanded and corrected, especially in sections dealing with Harvey Milk, and is regarded by the author Mike Weiss as superceding the 1984 edition. Also, the revised edition will remain in print (and eventually in e-print) for many years, where the old edition is out of print and is less available. Vince Emery (talk) 19:19, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but I have the old edition. I bought it in 2008 as I wrote Milk's article (used for $3 on Amazon--it's going now for $125). Does Weiss state in the intro or somewhere else that he made changes to his own book? And can he send me his new one? I'm poor. --Moni3 (talk) 20:50, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can we talk/email/text about this? My cell number is (415) 337-6000, so you can phone or text me there. Or you can send email to vince at emery dot com. Thanks. Vince Emery 21:11, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Is there a reason this discussion cannot take place here? --Moni3 (talk) 13:24, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Emery, you seem to be involved in the running of a publishing house of some kind and are using Harvey Milk's article to promote your materials.

This span of edits seems to include only materials published or written by Vince Emery. As yet, none of them are actually cited in the article, which means they need to be removed from the Bibliography. If they're listed in the External links/Further reading sections, that is fine. However, please don't use this as an excuse to fill the article with unnecessary citations only to include materials you have a vested interest in selling. If the article needs to be improved because the sources currently being used do not cover some aspect of Milk's life, let's discuss it on the article talk page. But you need to be aware of Wikipedia's guidelines about spam and conflict of interest.

I'm going to remove materials from the Bibliography to External links/Further reading. If you have questions, please ask here or on the talk page. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 21:21, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have no interest in selling the books Milk: A Pictorial History of Harvey Milk edited by Christopher Meason, or in Stitching a Revolution by Cleve Jones. I think your idea of moving books that are relevant to the topic but are not referenced in the main article from the Bibliography section to a Further Reading section is an excellent idea and helpful to the article's readers. Thank you.

Problem with your custom signature[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
