Archiving my discussion page

Could you give me some guidance as to what I need to do in order to archive my discussion page? I would like to archive what I have there now so I can start with a fresh page in October. Lost Virginia

I-864

I don't see anything on Scott's site about I-864, but there is an entry on Kurumi that doesn't have much information. I haven't found anything in the CTB archives about it, so it may have just been something that a local newspaper proposed. --NE2 01:34, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

I just found one proposal for an I-864, but not for the full beltway, on pages 53 and 62 of the May 1996 meeting minutes. It was option 4, taking I-64 along I-664 and SR 44 to the Virginia Beach oceanfront and adding I-864 along I-64 between Hampton and eastern Norfolk. Action was deferred for a month, and again for an unspecified amount of time in June 1996 (page 106). Obviously they never did anything. --NE2 01:48, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

James River Bridge

I'm expanding this article. Do you have sources for the shunpiking? How could they have used a "smaller and cheaper bridge", since there are no other bridges until Richmond? --NE2 19:12, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

I found the source, but I don't understand the other bridge. It may have been the Kings Highway Bridge (SR 125) for traffic towards the southeast, but they still would have had to use the James River Bridge to reach the peninsula. --NE2 19:24, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

my classmates where there

I was happy to find this! I was a student of Marian Heights Academy at the time of this accident. We had two buses also returning from Kings Island that where behind the bus that was hit. Personally, I was lucky. I was one of three that were to broke to go, but hearing the stories from my friends of watching children attempting to escape, but dying in the process still and always will continue something that I think about. We have a terrible intersection that is in our bus routes (divided highway). It's not a matter of if our buses will be in an accident at that intersection, but when. I am hoping that the reality of this story will help in getting people to see what tragic loss we could incur if something is not changed. Poor intersections and high speeds can be just as dangerous as drunk driving. The suggested speed limit is 45mph at the intersection, but in the state of missouri, they are not enforcable, therefore, most people drive through at 70mph (65mph is the posted, but 45mph is suggested). Thank you for posting information on the accident.

• Thank you for sharing your memories. About the current traffic hazard you have indentified and have concerns, one thing about bureaucrats that works is accountability. I recommend that you take the time to write, express your concerns, and share the horror of the 1988 Kentucky incident. It will get some attention, thought, and even possibly, corrective action. No bureaucrat want to have had fore knowledge and have done nothing. Trust me, I was one. Even if not corrected, you will also have a bit of peace of mind that you did what you could instead of silently knowing the hazard and waiting for the "bad one". safety will always be a moving target. Peer review request - Gun violence in the United States

Lately, I have been working on criminology topics which is an area that Wikipedia sorely lacks. Last weekend, I discovered there was no article on "Gun violence", so started one. Most of the research literature pertains to the United States, so the article has become Gun violence in the United States. To try and rise above politics, I have only included the highest quality reliable sources (mainly peer reviewed, scholarly journals). Personally, I really don't have a POV on this topic, and am staying out of the gun politics article. The gun violence article presents current state of research on this topic. I think is close to featured status, though some folks have already come along and place a neutrality tag on the article. I could really use some peer review on the article, at this point. I have seen you editing the Beltway sniper attacks article and helped some a while back when I had created the Roper v. Simmons article. So, thought you may be able to lend a hand and take a look at the gun violence article. Any suggestions on making in more NPOV, and improving the article? are there aspects of the topic that are missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Buckroe Beach

Do you by chance know the name of the trolley line that once went to Buckroe Beach? If so this infromation should be included in the article. I think it was the Newport News & Old Point Ry & Electric Co., but it might of been Hampton & Langley Feilds Railway?

• • Did you read the message on this page? User talk:Raspor. Apparently, the Gravelles article you wrote was thought not to meet WP criteria. I would suggest working on the editing of existing articles first before creating new ones, and see how your work survives (or doesn't). You should also consider contacting the Wikipedian who deleted your Gravelles article at this link User talk:Gurch and ask for details about why and request guidance. Despite your frustration, I hope you will do that respectfully and thereby get some non-emotional specific answers I cannot provide. Good luck. It is always OK to contact me. • • You are correct that usually an ad link would get deleted. There are a bunch of Wikipedians that concentrate on that. Most of us are reluctant to chop/delete/tamper with the work of others unless we feel strongly justified.

• • BTW, I did a little research and the Gavelle story may be so much in the news and still a developing situation that it is a hard topic to write about at this time and meet WP editorial standards. I concentrate on history and transportation articles, and usually there are plenty to work on. If you are new with Wikipedia, I would limit myself to editing existing articles, mostly to add information I can verify.

• • How long an answer from one of us might take is tough, since this thing is all volunteer, and there are so many different levels of participation. For example, I usually work on WP at night (here in Virginia), and will be going bed soon, and won't login again probably until at least tonight sometime.

• • One last thing, if you end your messages with four tilde signs (the button is to the left of the number 1 and capitalized on my keyboard), your message will include your user names and the time and date like this: Vaoverland 14:29, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Alexandria County redirection

Hi. I had changed the main article to be Alexandria County because there were many redirects for the same topic, and "Alexandria County" is inherently the most generic name for the topic, and the concept "Alexandria County, DC" is only part of the whole story that the article covers. The change you just made changes a simple redirection into a redirection to another redirection. I'll change it back. --Largo Plazo 14:34, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
