Hello, Ushau97, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}

Speedy deletion of artesunate/amodiaquine?[edit]

In my opinion flagging the article Artesunate/amodiaquine for speedy deletion is rather hasty. It is a copy/rename of the article ASAQ which I redirected to be consistent with other ACT medications. I noted this in the history. I'm sorry if it sounds like an advert, I took what was there, contributed what I have time to (medical journal citations etc) and hope that other editors will be motivated to add to the stub. I honestly don't think that speedy deletion of an article describing a new medication is appropriate. Flag it for revision so readers are warned and editors invited. If its deleted then where do people find the information? The article has to start somewhere. I contributed what I had found in my own research because the WP article was inadequate and incomplete. -- Alan (talk) 13:55, 18 January 2013 (UTC) (copied from incorrect posting to User_talk:AshLin)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of "Commerical Crew and Cargo Program" Article?[edit]

I see the article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial_Crew_and_Cargo_Program, has been marked for deletion and has been marked in violation of U.S. Copyright law. As to the first of these points, the article is notable, if for no other reason, because one of the programs run by the subject of the article has an extensive wikipedia article of its own: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial_Orbital_Transportation_Services

As to the claim that the text of the article violates copyright, I assume this must pertain to the text of the article, which is based in large part (though not exactly) on the text from the corresponding page of the NASA website. Please see 17 U.S.C. s. 105 (2013), which reads, in the relevant part:

TAFI[edit]

Hello,
In the past few days, Today's Articles for Improvement has gone through many changes.

  • We have modified the process for adding Nominations, which now uses a template/table format and requires only 3 supports for an article to be selected.
  • There is now a Holding Area, where articles are kept for discussion before being selected for a particular date.
  • The TAFI schedule now involves adding 10 articles weekly, chosen from a variety of topics.
  • We now have an Accomplishments page where we will be highlighting our older TAFI articles which have now become quality articles on the Wikipedia.

The Project is almost ready to hit the Main Page, where it will be occupying a section just below "Did you Know" section. Three article from the weekly batch of 7 will be displayed randomly at the main page, the format of which can be seen at the Main Page sandbox. There is also an ongoing discussion at the Main page talk over the final details before we can go forward with the Main Page.

If you have any ideas to discuss with everyone else, please visit the TAFI Talk Page and join in on the ongoing discussions there. You are also invited to add new nominations, and comment and suport on the current ones at the Nominations page. You can also help by helping in the discussions at the Holding Area.

Above all, please do not forget to improve our current Today's Articles for Improvement

Thank you and hoping to have some productive work from you at the Project,

Reporting -vs- discussing username violations[edit]

Many of us that work WP:UAA regularly have been trying to get the message out that best practice is to either open a discussion or report a violation, not both at the same time. Blatant violations can be blocked on sight, but if a user has just asked them to discuss it it is disengenuous to turn around and block them without even waiting for a reply. Unlike vandalism or other issues prior warning is not a prerequisite for username blocks as ost of them are "soft" blocked anyway, meaning they can simply choose a new name and continue editing. If there is an ongoing discussion we are obliged to move the report to the holding pen to see the result of the discussion before taking any action, instead of resolving it in a few seconds. Category:Political funding[edit]

Dear Ushaus, thank you for fixing the alphabetical order of pages in this category!

Here I am back again with my second point: If you look at the entries under subcategory "Campaign finance" most or all of them are repeated under the main category. Thus I don't think it is useful for readers who look for something specific to consult the subcategory (in addition to the main category). Besides, there is a cultural difference between readers in the U.S. and readers in other parts of the world: What U.S. folks call "campaign finance" other people call "political funding". As there are not too many items in the main category nothing gets lost if we delete the additional subcategory "Campaign finance", change the second subcategory (Political funding in the U.S.) to "Campaign funding in the U.S." and keep the subcategory "Political fundraisers" (possibly with the addition "in the U.S."). In my opinion that would offer the best orientation possible to U.S. readers and readers from the rest of the world. 91.2.192.40 (talk) 15:47, 14 March 2013 (UTC) obviously my signature didn't get thru 91.2.192.40 (talk) 15:49, 14 March 2013 (UTC)I wasn't logged in, sorry! I do not understand your request. Could you please make your question shorter and more clearer so that I will better understand it and tell me the reason for doing so. --Ushau97 talk contribs 17:43, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The structure of the category page is not helpful.

Please, delete the subcategory "Campaign finance" and transfer the items listed there to the general category page, if necesssary (because there is much duplication already).

Please, change the title of the second subcategory (Political funding in the U.S.) to "Campaign funding in the U.S.", because this is the term U.S. readers are used to.

Keep the subcategory "Political fundraisers", but please add "in the U.S." to its title, because all pages listed there refer to the U.S. only.

These three operations would help users from the U.S. and elsewhere to find what they are looking for much easier. Thank you! Khnassmacher (talk) 06:27, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have done as you requested. But instead of deleting the categories, I created redirects. Also I didn't rename the Political fundraisers since it contains Canada related pages too. Here is the Category:Political funding. Hope this is what you requested.--Ushau97 talk contribs 07:16, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, this looks much better! Did you also check the subcategory "Campaign finance reform"? My impression was that it only contains pages that relate to the U.S. Therefore I just repeat my proposal: Rename "Campaign finance reform" to "Campaign finance reform in the United States". First of all, thank you for your help in sorting out problems.

Second, I have taken "Stephen N. Lackey" from the general page, because he is an "American fundraiser" and listed in that subcategory.

Third, now I'd like to propose two additions: The subcategory "Campaign finance reform in the U.S." does not run two pages, which certainly belong there: "DISCLOSE Act" and "Federal Election Reform Act". Could you please add them? Khnassmacher (talk) 10:46, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I undid your last edit as your edit was nonconstructive and POV. The Salute Katidis did was a fascist salute, used by Paulo Di Canio and other footballers. It is a Salute used by the Greek right wing today and in the 1930s -1940s and a salute used by the Italian fascists of the same era. To label it only Nazi is POV as Katidis himself said he did not know what it meant as Linen his coach stated as well as katidis on his twitter. These are referenced in the article already. The salute anyway is not owned by Nazis, but most fascist groups before and after Nazism. Even the Romans and even Greek revolutionaries of the 1820s used it. Please do not write POV on this sensitive article. Thanks. Here is an image for you to think about before you start a war: http://grhomeboy.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/25-03-08_greek_independence.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.48.252.128 (talk) 12:37, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that image is not what we call a reliable source. It is from a personal blog. If you provide a reliable source, then you might be able to keep it. You didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. And I see that you have already changed. And not all Nazis are fascists. Please be aware that if you don't provide a reliable source I will revert it again. Thanks. --Ushau97 talk contribs 12:45, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hold on, I knew there was something dark going on here and now you have proved it. The picture I posted is one of the most famous paintings in Greek culture. It celebrates the statement of Independence from the Ottomans which took place on the 25th of march.. This painting is proof that the gesture in question is multi faceted. Neither the coach of AEK or the player admit he knew what the salute meant and this is already quoted in the article, so to label the salute Nazi is clear POV. Not all Nazis are Fascists??? LOL, where did this come from? The salute is not a Nazi salute but a salute used across the globe at various points in history that was adopted by the Nazis, Greek fascists, Italian Fascists and the Romans, Greek revolutionaries.. etc..Please provide a source rather than your personal politics that clearly states Katidis meant it as a Nazi salute and I will allow you to keep the article the way you are trying to maintain it. Your articles are being tagged for deletion because you haven't provided a reliable source. There is a Wikipedia policy stating that all biographies of living persons should have at least one reliable source. Please add a reliable source so that your article will not be deleted. Anyways the pages have been deleted since you have blanked them. If you want your pages to be undeleted, I will request an admin for undeletion if you agree to provide a reliable source. Or you could first create your article at your sandbox. I will keep an eye on your sandbox and all your other edits. NPOV issue[edit]

Good evening Ushau97, Thanks for putting NPOV in the Wikipedia Morjim page in response to my Help Desk call today. Thank you

Looking forwarding to your valuable suggestions to how the page about Morjim can be balanced out.

According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:NPOV_dispute 'Articles that have been linked to this page are the subject of an NPOV dispute (NPOV stands for neutral point of view; see below). This means that in the opinion of the person who added this link, the article in question does not conform to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Drive-by tagging is discouraged. The editor who adds the tag should address the issues on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies, namely Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Simply being of the opinion that a page is not neutral is not sufficient to justify the addition of the tag. Tags should be added as a last resort.'

Would you be pointing to specific issues that are actionable in Morjim as per the Wiki guidelines? What are your views on how best to resolve this? Thanks for your views.

Regards

GoanJourno (talk) 16:45, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I didn't just drive-by tag the article. I tagged the section so that editors and readers would be aware of the fact that there is a discussion about the NPOV issue on the talk page. {{POV-section}} is a label that is meant to indicate that a discussion about the issue is present, and that the article's content is disputed, and volatile. If the label is there editors who are active in resolving NPOV disputes will also be aware that the section has been disputed. Just initiating a discussion on the talk page might not make editors aware that the section has NPOV issues. Anyways, to answer your question, I do not contribute regarding NPOV issues so I might not be the one for this. My only suggestion is to remove the section. But if the references are reliable sources and the content in the section is mentioned in the references then that might not be the option. If you want to continue the issue further, then the best place would be WP:NPOVN. Thanks, --Ushau97 talk 17:17, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback ushau97. Appreciate it. I will escalate this to WP:NPOVN as well as as other Forums in Wikipedia. Depending on everyone's feedback, the Wikipedia community will work out a collective solution for this. Thanks for your help and prompt response. Regards

Yeah, I know that I have to notify the concerned user. I posted a message at WP:NHD#Bad writing. I was not sure about it because the user is a suspected LTA and just halted it until it is much clear. I have posted a message now at the user's talk page. Anyways, thanks for letting me know. --Ushau97 talk 17:13, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your assistance and follow up on this Ushau97. I have been dealing with this LTA personally (as one of his/her many wikistalking victims) off and on for three years now, and he/she has been identified as engaging with this sort of disruptive activity and vandalism on WP since at least 2005. If you have not done so already you should read through the his/her entire LTA file. He/she is very persistent but apparently also not very bright as the LTA makes the same mistakes time after time and always gets caught immediately whenever he/she resurfaces with another wikistalking attack. Centpacrr (talk) 11:25, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. I have read the page, not completely, but enough to know what is going on. I don't want to get involved personally in this case. The only reason I am doing it is because it is against Wikipedia's policies. I have a feeling that this guy will start to bother me too if I continue this one. But anyways I will try to help you on this. --Ushau97 talk 11:36, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Accepted edit[edit]

Hey there! You recently accepted this edit to French Montana. I would advise that you look at the sources before accepting edits like that. The source says Rick Ross is a musical influence now, but not while growing up, as that sentence suggests. Please be a little bit more careful with your reviewer right. Thank you. TCN7JM 16:42, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know! I checked the source, but seems like didn't really get it. I will try to be more careful :D. --Ushau97 talk 16:45, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Reconsideration[edit]

Hi Ushau! I have gone through the AfD tag on INSZoom. Could you take a look at it again. In my opinion, the above article is an encyclopedic and the concern is notable in the field of immigration.

Regards, MrNiceGuy114 (talk) 17:04, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, This is not the place for voicing your opinion on the article. Please share your thoughts on the matter at the article's entry on the Articles for deletion page located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/INSZoom (2nd nomination). And I see that you even removed the AfD notice from the article. Please don't repeat it again. Removing the template won't close the discussion. A bot will place the notice again if you remove the template. Thanks. --Ushau97 talk 17:11, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse invite[edit]

Thanks for the invite. Just posted my first wiki page, but it is in threat of being deleted for neutrality (or lack thereof) issues. Suggestions for improvement welcomed. Be well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avewiki (talkcontribs) 15:37, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You will get a better answer if you ask this question at the Teahouse, the place you were invited to in the first place. But anyways, I will try to help you with this. As you can see for yourself, at the top of the article, there are multiple tags which states the issues with the article.
First problem is that the article does not follow a neutral point of view. It is a Wikipedia policy that articles must not take sides, but should explain the sides, fairly and without bias. This applies to both what you say and how you say it.
Second problem with the article is it is written like a personal reflection or opinion essay rather than an encyclopedic description of the subject. As you already know Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a publisher of original thought. WP:OR states that all material in Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable, published source.
Third issue with the article is it's tone and style. The article may not reflect the encyclopedic tone used on Wikipedia. Wikipedia articles should be written in a formal tone. It should follow the style used by reliable sources, while remaining clear and understandable. Formal tone means that the article should not be written using unintelligible argot, slang, colloquialisms, doublespeak, legalese, or jargon; it means that the English language should be used in a businesslike manner.
Last issue is that the article needs additional citations for verification. You can add additional citations from reliable sources to make the article better. Readers must be able to check that Wikipedia articles are not just made up. This means that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation.
Since the article has the above mentioned issues present in its current state, it have already been nominated for deletion. If you fix these issues then the article will be retained in Wikipedia as an article. Also even if it is deleted, if you agree to fix the issues present in the article at its current state, I will request userfication so that you may improve the article and move it back to article space again. For more information about how to write a great article see WP:DEV, WP:PERFECT & WP:BETTER. Hope this will help you. If you have any more questions, ask at the Teahouse, where you will get a fast & better response. Regards. --Ushau97 talk 11:36, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

About Teahouse talkbacks[edit]

Hey Ushau, how did you add the Teahouse talkback to your Twinkle? When I tried to add it in my Twinkle preferences, the Talkback section did not allow me to add/remove templates. Also, what is the code of the template to add? Cheers, Arctic Kangaroo 15:21, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure I am following you. What do you mean by add Teahouse talkback to Twinkle? I don't remember adding Teahouse TB to Twinkle. Could you please clarify the question? --Ushau97 talk 09:42, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I asked the question with reference to this Teahouse talkback that you left on my talk page. Arctic Kangaroo 10:14, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah! You don't need to do anything to add it. It's in Twinkle by default. You can access it by going to Twinkle TB as usual and select Noticeboard notification. From there, select WP:THQ from the drop-down menu. Cheers! --Ushau97 talk 12:11, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New article: Terry Marshall[edit]

Ushau97,

I posted a couple days ago asking a question about writing an article about a living person. You replied saying that if I included a link to the article things could go a little faster. Here is the new article: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Terry Marshall. I think it conforms with the Wikipedia guidelines, but since I'm new, I'd like a second opinion.

Thanks for your help

--LEWoodford (talk) 00:31, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't usually work at AfC, so I don't think I would be able to review the draft very well. But I will suggest some ideas to improve the draft. At its current state, there are only 6 references. You might need to add extra citations to the article for it to go well. See WP:REFB. Additionally, the draft has no links to other Wikipedia articles. See WP:LINK & WP:UNDERLINK on how to fix this. I haven't read the article completely so I can't specify the issues but there might be additional issues too. Regards --Ushau97 talk 09:35, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, very much. --LEWoodford (talk) 11:14, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

you removed the website Link from Neelum[edit]

Hi i added the links of the valley's official site, which is now developed to introduce the Neelum valley to the world, which you have removed could you please tell me what was wrong with those links.

thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.166.168.130 (talk) 11:55, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, please remember that you are not logged in. Since you have a registered account you should be logged in when making edits. I removed the links per WP:EL & WP:SPAM. I have even removed some other links because they appear to be promotional. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 1 E3 m[edit]

Please explain why 1 E3 m should redirect to Orders of magnitude (length) and not the more specific 1 kilometre. I don't understand. Also why did you mark my edit as test/vandalism which it was clearly not.5.70.197.21 (talk) 13:09, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry that I marked the edit as test/vandalism. And voice your opinion here Talk:Orders of magnitude (length)#1 E3 m. --Ushau97 (talk) 13:15, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You can contact me by writing on this page itself. And you can edit most pages by clicking on Edit tab at the top-right side of the page. See this image. In case you are not able to find your page, this is where the page is located: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Catherine Elizabeth Clay. For future reference, you can access your page by going to your contributions page which can be found at the very top of every page. If there is anything else you need help in just tell me. You can reply by pressing on the [Edit] link at the right side of the section header. Regards --Ushau97 (talk) 11:43, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help Project newsletter : Issue 6[edit]

The Help Project Newsletter

Issue VI - April 2013

Open Help Conference

The Open Help Conference will be taking place June 15-19 in Cincinnati Ohio, USA. The conference includes two days of presentations and open discussions, followed by team "sprints" - collaborative efforts to write and improve documentation.

It has been suggested to send a team from Wikipedia/Wikimedia: to share our own knowledge about help, learn from others in the open source community working on similar problems, and to carry out a sprint to improve some aspect of Wikipedia's help.

There may be support available for volunteers to attend from the Participation Support program (and your editor is certainly hoping to be there!) Please join the discussion in Meta's IdeaLab if you're interested, and/or have suggestions about what we could work on.

Other news

If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.

Suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter.

Minor edits[edit]

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Megalodon, as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. --BigPimpinBrah (talk) 17:31, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder why you left this message. WP:MINOR says that removing vandalism can be marked as minor and this edit was clearly vandalism. And I used the rollback feature which is automatically marked as a minor edit. Regards --Ushau97 (talk) 04:59, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It was unsourced, and it was written in poor English, but it wasn't vandalism. In cases like this it would be better to revert and mention they need to add a source for their claim. --BigPimpinBrah (talk) 16:44, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Screenshot of All Natural Food Zone.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Screenshot of All Natural Food Zone.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:06, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
