Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Hi Uniformcharlie886—I wanted to alert you to "signatures" on Talk pages, so I posted the above. (It is boilerplate.) Basically, on Talk pages, you type four "tildes" after your posts. That is method 1. Or, method 2 is that you "click on the signature button" as mentioned above in method 2. Also note—this is not done "when editing articles". Any questions, please let me know. Non-free content use[edit]

Hi Uniformcharlie886. The reason the bot keeps removing File:National Rifle Association.svg is because this file is a non-free file and non-free files can only be used in the article namespace per Wikipedia non-free content use criterion #9. This means that such files cannot be displayed in other namespaces such as in templates, drafts, talk pages, and on user pages. The bot was leaving an edit summary each time it removed the file like this one here and it's OK if you missed it or didn't understand it. Bots, however, usually only do the things they've been set up to do and while they sometimes make mistakes, they are usually vetted and do repeatedly make a certain edit unless the edit is clearly something that is in accordance with some relevant Wikipedia policy or guideline, particularly when it comes to removing content from pages. So, if you come across this kind of thing again, please check the page's edit history to see whether the bot has left an edit summary. If it has, then it has also most left a link to the relevant policy of guideline explaining why it made the edit. If you still read the edit summary and then look at the correspondingly linked page and still don't understand why the bot made the edit, then asking the bot operator directly or asking at a place like the Wikipedia Teahouse can often clear things up.

One thing about the image files you see on Wikipedia is that they are not all licensed the same way; some are licensed as public domain or released under a free license while others are licensed as non-free content. How a file is licensed is going to determine how it can be used on Wikipedia; so, if you want to add images to your user page, please look from public domain or freely licensed ones on Wikimedia Commons.
