Old Fair use discussion[edit]

This template uses a corporate logo, which is considered fair use for identification purposes. --Dschor 21:08, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I really can't proofread. Sorry about the messed up link. Ian Manka Questions? Talk to me! 22:57, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
As per my statement on the other userbox talk pages, fairuse only allows us to use the image on articles directly related to the product and even then only very narrowly and it definitely does not allow us to use it on userboxes so I am removing the image yet again. I just read both Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Logos and did not see any mention of article space (brought up in Template talk:User pepsi) or userboxes. Obviously neither Coke nor Pepsi can hold a copyright on a picture made of their products by someone else. I don't see a reason a Wikipedian could not take a picture of a coke can, upload it onto WP, and use it in a userbox. -Acjelen 03:59, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In order to prevent further image problems, I have selected a coke image that is public domain. --Dschor 12:01, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
