I'm being bold and changing the wording. While many people are uncomfortable saying they own a cat, given cats' independence of spirit, at the same time I think many people don't feel owned by their cat either. Also, many people have more than one. --Angr (t·c) 23:00, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I didn't change the wording as much as I had intended. I wanted to change it to "This user shares his life with one or more cats", but then I realized some users who share their lives with cats are female. But "This user shares his or her life with one or more cats" just has too many "A or B" options and is starting to sound like legalese. Then I considered "This user shares companionship with one or more cats" but that sounds a little too New Age for me. Any other suggestions? --Angr (t·c) 23:09, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I like it as it is now - I was thinking of changing it slightly myself since I'm owned by three cats. I think the 'owned by' thing is amusing (and quite accurate) and should be left as is. --Hitchhiker89 22:30, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well okay. But on my own user page I subst'ed it so I could change the text to "shares his life with". --Angr (t·c) 22:43, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PUI Image[edit]

I have replaced the potentialy deleted image, waiting for a (c) tag for it, with a commons image for now. Once the other image gets a (c) tag, we can revert it. --Romeo Bravo 01:04, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

wording[edit]

I'm changing the wording because cats don't own people. 65.118.187.102 14:53, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm changing it back, because once again the wording is deliberate. VoiceOfReason 15:08, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Changing it back again. It may be deliberate, but it's wrong and sort of insulting. The new wording is deliberate too :) 65.118.187.102 15:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you don't like the wording of the userbox, make your own, rather than suddenly changing the wording of a template that many other Wikipedians have applied to their own pages. And register an account. VoiceOfReason 21:04, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Over 600 users have chosen to apply this template to their userpages, presumably because they liked the wording. There is nothing at all stopping you from copying this template into your own userspace and making whatever changes you feel like making. I find your insistence on meddling in this template particularly annoying because you don't even have a userpage, let alone a userpage that uses this template. VoiceOfReason 21:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did it and got a warning... Coastergeekperson04 22:22, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Once again, 600 people think their cats own them. If you want to "own" a cat (which is impossible) make your own userbox. Nardman1 11:29, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It happened again[edit]

It happened again and it was reverted recently and rightly so. Let's keep it that way, (I hope). Dr.K. 14:58, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The magic of parsers[edit]

Howbout I add a parser to let the template's user decide for themself.--Ipatrol (talk) 22:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note: It only looks right when transcluded or subsitsed, not on the page itself.--Ipatrol (talk) 22:54, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Error, fixed.--Ipatrol (talk) 22:56, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
