Replaceable fair use File:Royal Muskoka Hotel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Royal Muskoka Hotel.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 20:53, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Lance Hayward at the Half Moon Hotel, Volume 2, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:21, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to History of ExxonMobil did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 19:32, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to emphasize the message above from @InvadingInvader requesting that you add edit summaries.
Take for example this diff where you deleted over 24,000 bytes, you should explain to other editors what you are doing. Please see WP:FIES CT55555(talk) 18:36, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Will do - sorry about that. Tsc9i8 (talk) 18:42, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

August 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 19:09, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to the The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp plot summary have been removed because they added a significant amount of unnecessary detail. Please avoid excessive detail and high word counts when editing plot summaries/synopses. You may read the plot summary edit guides to learn more about contributing constructively to plot summaries/synopses. There are also specific guidelines for films, musicals, television episodes, anime/manga, novels and non-fiction books. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 19:59, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please avoid using IMDb in citations, in accordance with WP:RS/IMDb. DonIago (talk) 20:00, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

September 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Canada Permanent Trust Building. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. I have reverted the move, I believe. I am using this template since it contains all the relevant informational and links better than I could explain. If you want to move the page and the basic page move option doesn't work due to history at the destination redirect or otherwise, or you want discussion, please look at WP:RM/TR for a technical uncontroversial move or WP:RM for a full discussion. Thanks! Skynxnex (talk) 19:52, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. I tried to do a move for "Canada Permanent Trust Building" to "Canada Permanent Trust Building." However, because there was already a page for the latter (with a redirect), it wouldn't let me do this. Is there a way to get around this problem without a cut-and-paste? Tsc9i8 (talk) 20:32, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if you're pretty confident that the name without "Trust" is the correct name you can go to technical move requests and click "add a new request". Then an editor with WP:PAGEMOVER permissions will move it if they agree it's uncontroversial, otherwise that page documents how it's moved to either contested or a full WP:Requested move. It's a bit too much paper work, really, but being able to keep the history of the page with the page is a large advantage and the current MediaWiki software only allows normal editors like you or me to move over a redirect if it: 1. points to the page that is being moved from; and 2. has a single revision. I hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try to help. Skynxnex (talk) 20:40, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Montreal Aviation Museum logo.png[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 09:12, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Quadra Club moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Quadra Club. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources, it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:29, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Consumers' Gas Company[edit]

Hello Tsc9i8,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Consumers' Gas Company for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Consumers' Gas Company to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Notice

The article Encana has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:MOS issues, many unsourced claims or improperly sourced statments.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
