There are several scattered articles about lag and latency in video games and networks and few citations backing up what is written. Request reason:

Accused of sockpuppet for 3 reasons:

1. My 1st edit on 8/21/10 after Createk’s 1st edit after long time on 8/20/10

2. Critical of same Digital Foundry material during edit war about OnLive source

3. Similar writing style with WP:3LAs

Responses (event dates with explanation):

1. Createk & my 1st edits were only 1 day apart because both were about same widely viewed D8 video that had just came out on 8/9. But after first edit, Createk went silent for next 5 months, while I made many contributions.

8/9/10 or shortly thereafter: Saw D8:All Things Digital video: http://kara.allthingsd.com/20100809/full-d8-demo-video-onlive/. D8 is highly prestigious tech conference. First video to confirm OnLive really works over Internet.

8/20/10: Createk saw same video and added it as /ref to OnLive article (see Createk 8/20/10 OnLive edit comment). Createk went silent after this day till 1/26/11.

8/21/10: Contributed to Lag (online gaming) article. Rather than try to create correct /ref on my own, cut and pasted 3 /refs from OnLive article including Createk’s D8 video /ref and 2 older /refs from other editors.

8/27/10-1/25/11: Made several edits to Lag articles, including extensive use of Digital Foundry articles, one of which later was subject of edit war. Got kudos from administrator for contributions on 9/12. Thought I was doing good.

2 & 3: How Digital Foundry edit war evolved, and why writing style using WP:3LAs same as Createk:

1/3-1/25: Felt Digital Foundry extreme views made them poor technical source, but illustrated how harsh critics had acknowledged they had been wrong about OnLive andexplained position on SeraphimBlade’s page. As changes kept being reverted, explained Wikipedia source policy in full words, not WP:3LAs.

1/26/11: Createk returned about 5 month absence and deleted Digital Foundry material entirely using WP:3LAs extensively.

1/30/11: Agreed Digital Foundry articles should not be used at all based on Createk cited Wikipedia source policy. Deleted all my contributions based on Digital Foundry in both OnLive and Lag articles. Cut and Pasted Createk’s WP:3LAs edit references and sentence structure using them, assuming this was proper form for critiquing sources. Had not used WP:3LAs before in writing. Note my extensive comments on SeraphimBlade’s page on 1/23/11 could have been briefer with WP:3LAs, but did not know they could be used that way.

1/31/11: Other editors who clearly can't all be sockpuppets have expressed concerns with verifiability and balance of expert source that was subject of edit war: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games/Sources#Disagreement_about_reliability_of_Eurogamer_articles_for_OnLive_article

I have no explanation

Using Wikipedia (or any site) I am well aware the sites log the IP address and data about the computer, leave cookies, etc. I've sought help from others at school and at work to show me the ropes, and who I've discussed this matter with, particularly in helping me research the dates after my computer could no longer log in. Others use my computer on occasion if I'm not at my desk for the web. I don't know why else there your tools would find the correlation they found.

Still, what you are suggesting is a 5-month long (if not 4-year long) conspiracy just to lead to 2 minor comments on a minor subsection of a highly technical subject, with a view that is also supported by others without my involvement. Needless to say, it would have been far easier to carry out such a scheme by simply not using cut and paste or changing my writing style so as to not arouse suspicion, especially given the time investment of such caper.

I won't ask to be re-instated again, nor will I contribute further. I'm frankly concerned now about what other things I might be accused of, given that I am associated with someone else.

I'm sorry for the time and trouble this has caused everyone, and I do thank the one admin who thanked me for my initial contributions. Seeing that brief note was the highpoint of my adventure with Wikipedia. I do hope that someone picks up the flag when it comes to expanding and unifying the Lag articles, as I had hoped to get back to them.
