Wikibreak[edit]

If you're stopping by to discuss policy, my edits, or just about anything else, be aware that I'm now on an extended break from Wikipedia to spend more time with my family and my students. I apologize for having left a few discussions prematurely, but there are plenty of capable minds here to handle anything which I may have been involved in. If you'd like to get in touch with me personally, feel free to use the email link. Otherwise, best wishes, and remember to keep your edits in perspective. It's just Wikipedia. Tijuana Brass 11:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although you may not read this for a few months, I agree with you completely. I am great full for you advise Tijuana. Wikipedia is great but too much and we lose sight of what is really important to us. But then, I do have a traffic cone on my head. Enjoy your time South of the Border, Dfrg.msc 00:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll also feed your fish for you. He hasn't moved in a while though. Uh-oh. Dfrg.msc 06:28, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invitation[edit]

Hi there, I am a research student from the National University of Singapore and I wish to invite you to do an online survey about Wikipedia. To compensate you for your time, I am offering a reward of USD$10, either to you or as a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation. For more information, please go to the research home page. Thank you. --WikiInquirer 02:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC)talk to me[reply]

WP:CVU status[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Hastings Town centre[edit]

I'm very surprised that you decided to remove the db tag on the above. There is a fine article on Hastings but are we seriously now suggesting that towns need articles on their centres? There are even photographs of the town centre on the Hastings article! Paste 18:03, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I saw that you carried out the deletion of the above page, and I was wondering if you could also issue a block against Pntnes (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), the SummerThunder sock that put it up. The case is too stale for WP:SSP, but it would be good to zap his sleeper accounts whenever we find them, in case he plans on reactivating them to edit protected articles in the future. Thanks. --Dynaflow babble 02:38, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citizendium, the not necessarily free encyclopedia[edit]

Thanks, Tijuana Brass. Look like an enigma wrapped in a conundrum! No, the answer is to rewrite for now and hope they straighten out there licensure issues. All of those article looked like keepers. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 21:16, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. Sorry to melt your ice, but I'm, er, not an admin. UH, I remember tagging four of those. Only two are left. Think I'll list the last one with [[Telephone Newspaper]. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim —Preceding comment was added at 21:23, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The copyvio has been removed and the article stubbed if you would care to switch to speedy keep. Interesting developments all around. This is the last of the bunch. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 18:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added clutter[edit]

If people want to look up words, they will go to Wiktionary initially, not simply type it into WP. These type of pages are completely needless, and need to be speedied. Mr Which??? 06:11, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Had you left an edit summary in your removal of the tag, I would have known you were an admin, and had declined the speedy. Mr Which??? 06:21, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So you don't see the need (as an admin) to leave a short edit summary (i.e. "SD declined"), so that someone knows it was reviewed and declined? Mr Which??? 06:34, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the history. I'm not sure how a "rollback" looks any different than a simple revert by a standard editor. Mr Which??? 06:44, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to say thank you for the barnstar. I enjoyed editing the article, but that really made my day! -- Kateshortforbob 23:58, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Faust (play)[edit]

Hi. I've deleted the article, but please see WP:CSD#G4: a recreation must be "substantially identical" to warrant speedy deletion under that criterion. Faust (play) was about a similar topic, but not "substantially identical" or even similar to Sirc Michaels. IceKarma 05:34, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't list it as a G4. It was listed as an A7. The Michaels note was meant as a reference to a related deletion for the reviewing admin. Tijuana Brass 22:35, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok[edit]

But help = getting involved. A trusted Wiki admin (And no not a mate of mine) posted on that page yesterday and got zero response. I say I will take legal action and I get attention> I assure you if you see what has been said about me on wiki in the last year I have a case or a hundred so please do get involved.

Deletion[edit]

Can you please explain to my why my article was deleted and the examples I cited were not? --Joshuakopel (talk) 03:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. If you like I can add several external links to websites mentioning the clothing line and its prevalence in todays fashion market. That seems to be the only difference between pages like the Localgod Clothing and stussy or rvca. I can load the page down with links and content, I simply wanted to get a basic structure created to start. Will you give me the opportunity?--Joshuakopel (talk) 04:03, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guernol Lioness[edit]

Ack- i was still working on that. Will fix it tomorrow. 5,000 year old statues are notable to me. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 03:30, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Too speedy[edit]

Hey, you deleted an article on the Guennol Lioness, which sold today for $57,200,000 dollars. See this Yahoo article. You ignored a hangon tag. Please put the article back. AnteaterZot (talk) 03:32, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never and thanks. Your still tops in my book!. Dlohcierekim 03:35, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I humbly request that you undelete this, as this is an article about a amusement park ride, not a person, coporation, group, band, or web content and does not fall under A7. Someone thinks that it's A3-elgible because it's very short; I tried to explain to him that it's a worthy stub-class article, but he just readded the tag (I reverted it a minute before you deleted it). hbdragon88 (talk) 03:55, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

30 year block.[edit]

Well, technically 30 years is less than indefinite. On a less pedantic note, teenagers goofing around are always welcome, as long as they don't try to wreck the encyclopedia, which is what they generally do. If they miraculously decide to become a good contributor (hasn't happened to me yet, unfortunately), I'd be very glad to reverse the 30 year block, welcome, and help them if need be. By the way, I just noticed {{test5}} doesn't list instructions on how to use {{unblock}}: I'll use {{uw-ablock}} and {{uw-block2}} now. Thanks for making me review blocking templates with this discussion. :) · AndonicO Talk 17:03, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

James Sloyan[edit]

I don't know if you're still watching James Sloyan or not, but I think it could use another pair of eyes. There's some silly text in there, but any significant change I make gets reverted by yet another mysterious anonymous editor. eaolson (talk) 05:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey buddy. My page was deleted yet again after I cited several valid references. I thought the page looked amazing. Someone named Len deleted it and hasn't stated reasons why. Theatre Editing[edit]

Thanks for the heads up on the Michaels stuff. I was a bit thrown off by the immediate cornering as opposed to assistance, but it didn't turn me off to Wikipedia or the desire to help add to it. I would be very interested in helping with the theatre stuff. If there was something in particular, let me know. --Gonzodak (talk) 18:00, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Just a reminder that, when performing a merge, the article history of the page that was merged must be preserved per the GFDL. I have restored the history of the article Master Higgins and redirected it to Adventure Island (video game)‎, which is where you merged it. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 07:54, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In part, I'm only repeating what I was told by others, so .... However, see Help:Merging and moving pages#Performing the merger and Template:r from merge. I believe that the requirement is based in Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License#4. MODIFICATIONS. The validity and necessity of this approach was contested in October, but I don't think that the discussion resulted in any change to current practice. Black Falcon (Talk) 08:06, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is rather horrible. :) I've read the GFDL a few times, but to be honest I still don't know which specific phrase, sentence, or paragraph requires preserving the edit history... :/ I'm just relying on the word of editors who've been here longer than I. Anyway, I'm glad that a change to the simpler CC-by-SA license is being considered. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 08:20, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Territorial evolution of Colorado[edit]

How can I get an archived copy of the deleted article Territorial evolution of Colorado? As noted in the discussion, this was an article under development, and there was a fair amount original content lost. I would like to hold the copy until I have the time to develop an appropriate replacement. Thanks, Buaidh (talk) 15:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the speedy response on the Afd. However, I think you should heed my advice on the protected redirect part of my post there. The anime and magna draws a lot of fans and they might re-create the article again.--Lenticel (talk) 07:39, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sir James Baird, 2nd baronet of Saughtonhall[edit]

Curious to know why this article was speedily deleted - it was nominated for deletion wiithin minutes of writing, and although there was a hold put on it, seemingly no discussion took place - and it had vanished within 12 hours. The reason stated was lack of notoriety for Sir James Baird - I just don't get this. At the very least he has the notoriety of being a titled Scottish noble - a certain level of notoriety attaches to this alone. Additionally he played a role in religion and politics in the seventeenth century. Wikipedia lists his name in a comprehensive list of baronets of Saughtonhall and has articles for some - it seems logical to offer at least brief information about others - their dates, who they are related to (important when the title is hereditary) and what they did. This is basic encyclopedic material found in other encycliopedias on and off line - why doesn't Wikipedia want it? Graemedavis (talk) 19:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Socialism[edit]

Why did you revert my changes to this template? I spent some time on this and for good reason. It displays better on articles with multiple templates, ex. Socialist state, and your revision has once again ruined the formatting of that page. I made it nearly identical to Template:Communism, which seems to be a perfectly acceptable template format. Please respond as soon as you can. Stevens757 (talk) 13:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks again! Following is the clarification you needed: 1. is it just a website on its own, or is the website of a newspaper? - Yes, it's a website of its own and it published an article written by http://big.bg/ (Интернет Медия БИГ.БГ) - Internet Media Big.bg, which is an official internet media publishing company in Bulgaria. 2. Is the title of it "Internet Media Big" or something else? - Internet Media Big.bg is the publisher, the title of the article translates to "Slaveevi Noshti begins in Aitos" 3. And is there an author's name attached to this article? - I couldn't find an author's name, but under author it lists the publisher's name: Internet Media Big.bg

Hope this helps. Thanks again! --NeoOrpheus (talk) 08:50, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
