Madness[edit]

Welcome to the madhouse; please say hello

Welcome[edit]

Hi, PHILTHEGUNNER60. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  20:37, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

A tag has been placed on Yves Varende requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi. You're certainly welcome to translate the French article, but there's no need to create a "placeholder." Just FYI.  :) PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:02, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:31, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits[edit]

I've noticed you copying material from the French Wikipedia. Please note that any translated articles must be tagged with {{translated}} on the talk page, as well as conforming to our Manual of Style. In particular, articles should be verifiable with references to reliable sources, and using ALL CAPS should be avoided. OrangeDog (talkedits) 23:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're doing just fine.  :)[edit]

Yeah, it does take some time to get used to this alternate reality right out of a Bob Clampett cartoon we call Wikipedia, but the best thing to do is to keep on doing what you're doing, that is, digging in and helping out. You're always welcome to leave word with me if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, --PMDrive1061 (talk) 05:52, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's the thought that counts...[edit]

Ah, Belgian chocolate. One of the truly great advances in the history of mankind. I have to admit I've never had a Belgian beer to my knowledge and if it's even half as good as the chocolate, I think I'm in for something special. There are a couple of places out my way which may have them. Any particular brand I should be on the lookout for? Oh, and special thanks for the pro-American sentiment. We've tried to do so much for so many and it's great to be a part of this place.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back![edit]

Hey, good to see you around! I look forward to working with you again. Just keep those Belgian chocolates coming, OK?  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 19:40, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Hi Phil. Are you aware that your user and talk pages are in the wrong place? They should be at User:PHILTHEGUNNER61 and User talk:PHILTHEGUNNER61 otherwise it breaks contribution links automatic signing. You can move them quite easily using the "move" tab or ask an admin for assistance. OrangeDog (talk • edits) 17:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

about my username : when I started to contribute to both EN and FR WIKIPEDIA, I thought that 2 usernames were required ( one for each language ) => so I created GUNNER60 for EN and GUNNER61 for FR. I just discovered after your msge that it was not necessary !! So beeing for the moment working on french wikipedia under GUNNER61, I therefore sign :--PHILTHEGUNNER61 (talk) 14:08, 7 September 2009 (UTC) ( shall I earn two salaries/wages ?? )[reply]
It's not a major issue, but you can get them moved to the same name to avoid confusion. See WP:Changing username for details. Also, with m:Help:Unified login, you can automatically use the same account on all Wikimedia projects. OrangeDog (talk • edits) 15:21, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tip of the day: don't forget to sign your msg (en dehors des articles), using ~~~~ ++ Alvar 10:47, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Dernier-mohican-giffeu-delagrave 1937.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Dernier-mohican-giffeu-delagrave 1937.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:01, 9 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Elen of the Roads (talk) 13:01, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm not very helpful template. Actually, the problem is that unless you drew the picture on the book cover, you cannot claim to have created the image (all you have created is a derivative work) and therefore you cannot release it under any kind of license. I am guessing that you didn't create the artwork for the bookcover. The image is probably ok to use as Fair Use, but would need to be uploaded to en:Wikipedia for that, as all works on Commons must be free, as I'm sure you know. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 13:04, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Mark Bourne has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources available on google for Mark Bourne - not notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MarkDask 02:22, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
