Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Ccwaters! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Laraque[edit]

I am on the fence on whether to include Laraque...he is technically a member of the roster, but there are usually exceptions on the Wikipedia roster sites in these cases. For example, if a player is sent to the minors on conditioning, he remains part of the 23 players but we remove him from the roster. In addition, he is no longer listed as active on the official NHL site. FlameMoth (talk) 16:00, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, its a grey area. I certainly think listing him as a "free agent" on his article is factually wrong. As far as the Habs roster template, I think if the league continues to list him as a scratch (go to any game recap on NHL.com, go to "game reports" and then "roster report" [1]) then I think he should be listed. Tonight is the first game since this announcement. I would base my stance on those roster reports over the next week. Do you know more about the situation? Why don't they waive him? Just curious. ccwaters (talk) 16:16, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
He has a no-trade clause, so waivers were not a possibility. I agree with the official rosters, as long as this is consistent all the time. FlameMoth (talk) 16:40, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BC comic strip[edit]

Hello Ccwaters. Thanks for the link to the COI page. I will keep these guidelines in mind. as you can tell, I'm new to Wikipedia!  :) Thanks for your help with the dog strip and for adding the Hockey info. I need to find some refs from the Binghamton Press to back up the info I added about all the cartoonists gathering every year at the BC Open. Maybe this info would work better on the Johnny Hart page? Another question: Is it okay to delete info when the links do not work any longer? ie: links 1, 3, 4 and 5 on the BC comic strip page, go to blank pages.Ppom55 (talk) 20:01, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have responded to your comment on the talk page. Tom Danson (talk) 22:45, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • My friend, you are a genius! I have changed this to a disambiguation page for now, with the AHL team taking up primacy upon the conclusion of the current hockey seasons. Tom Danson (talk) 03:07, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Out of simple curiosity, is there a reason why we (we, in this case, being the collective WikiProject Ice Hockey) prefer the use of lower-case characters to display league/conference/division title winners? In all honesty, I'm not really that fussed by your revision of my edit, but I personally feel that the use of an upper-case character is more aesthetically pleasant. Is it simply a case of personal preference or is there an existing consensus within the Project? Regards, Alrin (talk) 20:53, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not speaking for him, but lowercase is the standard that most (if not all) newspapers use when also displaying the same thing. I am guessing because this is the same standard that is used in proper writing for footnotes, which these essentially are. -DJSasso (talk) 23:52, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Its what we did last year. Just being consistent. ccwaters (talk) 00:11, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All good. As I said, was mostly curious. Cheers. Alrin (talk) 09:48, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a regular editor to pages relating to the Flyers, I wonder if you would be interested in commenting on List of Philadelphia Flyers players which is currently a featured list candidate here. Regards, Harrias (talk) 10:36, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heh[edit]

Hockey teams[edit]

Thanks for the heads-up about the league category; I've fixed that. Clearly wasn't paying enough attention — which probably justifies and/or explains the afternoon nap I just woke up from.

Regarding the general idea of categorizing by country, I'd note that Canada and Norway already have separate subcategories (and have had for a long time); there was also already a category for Pennsylvania (though not for any other US state). Just as an example of why a US category is useful, until I funnelled it into the US subcat Billings Bighorns wasn't in any US-related categories at all except for the stubs one — it was only in Category:Defunct ice hockey teams and Category:Western Hockey League. WP:Hockey Navbox policy[edit]

Since you spoke up in my recent thread, I ask that you please check User:TonyTheTiger/sandbox/Hockey mafia issue and make sure that I am representing WP:HOCKEY correctly.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:18, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Stanley Cup[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to say that it looks like you and a few others are doing yeoman's work in beating back constant premature edits to the 2010 bracket. I was involved in the debate over how to (re)design it, and I think we really hit upon a design that does as good a job as can be done of visually showing how the concept of re-seeding works. It gets thrown off when people fiddle with it, though, and Wikipedia is better off for dedicated editors who are willing to do that work. MrArticleOne (talk) 21:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lowell/Albany Devils[edit]

Good Morning! I found another source that does NOT use a blog, and quotes the Times Union Center General Manager.[1] I know nothing official has been announced, but it is definitely worthy of a mention, I think anyway. Let me know what you think! Thanks! Kjscotte34 (talk) 12:58, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, that's better. ccwaters (talk) 13:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Federal Hockey League[edit]

I don't know why you deleted the information about the Federal Hockey League's office being the same as junior league and teams. It's factual information. Sportslogo (talk) 17:04, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

the albany devils[edit]

i seriously have no idea why you continue to delete a page when the devils are coming to albany. even though there has not been official announcement, its been leaked in almost every media outlet in the northeast. nothjersey.com has it, the lowell sun has basically announced it, there local radio stations have pretty much announced it and have even disclosed the letter written by lou larimell to the lowell devils booster club. you seriously have no clue and shouldnt be deleting someone for having announcements on here about these things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mofoca22 (talkcontribs) 20:44, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing that sentence of my edit on Lowell Devils. I'm too tired to properly edit today I think. Your sentence looked better. Nice job! Kjscotte34 (talk) 17:44, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2009–10 Chicago Blackhawks skyline pano[edit]

The skyline pano belongs somewhere in the article. I readded it, but following the WP:LEAD instead of in above it. If you don't like it there move it somewhere else in the article, but don't remove it. If you move it drop me a note. This is a current candidate at WP:FPC and if you just start yanking it around it will screw up the process.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:30, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Calmer Waters 14:36, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glen Metropolit[edit]

You removed the note about Metropolit being the only player to have played for both the Atlanta Knights and Atlanta Thrashers. This is hardly "trivia" and it was the only mention of his Atlanta Knights appearance in the article. You are not judge and jury on what is trivia and should not be so quick to edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkendr (talkcontribs)

see Talk:Glen Metropolit ccwaters (talk) 18:45, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are STILL not judge and jury and should have posted your intent on the talk page before removing content. Another user weighed in and that settled it. You should not act unilaterally. Dkendr (talk) 11:39, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glen Metropolit[edit]

Glen Metropolit's nickname is "The Underlying Theme" why is this continuously being removed and being considered "vandalism". I'm offended that you would censor this, it needs to be included somewhere on the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.231.117.58 (talk) 18:35, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • While Waters considers himself judge and jury for everything on that page, the topic of nickname came up on the talk page and the nickname was held by more than one other user to be irrelevant trivia which can be left off the page. Dkendr (talk) 01:40, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IP user and templates[edit]

I see you've been dealing with the same IP user at Template:Philadelphia Flyers that I have at Template:Philadelphia Phillies. This is a long-term pattern of abuse on the original research policy, so I thought you might be interested to know that I gave the address a block, which will hopefully cool his jets for a while. If you see further problems with inserting rivalries that don't exist, please let me know, as I've been after him to stop for quite some time, as you can see by the talk page. — KV5Talk • 12:41, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Curious why you deleted the clinching scenarios. Some wikipedia policy? This is done in many other current sporting events why was it not suitable for the World Junior Hockey Championships?18abruce (talk) 03:45, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
