Wrestling moves subcategories

Hi Tabercil, I noticed that a few of your pictures were classified as "Professional wrestling attacks" in Commons. Just like to inform you that there are more categories within Professional wrestling moves, including PW throws, PW aerial techniques, Pin (professional wrestling) and subcategories like PW kicks, Backbreaker etc. Thanks again for all your photos! :) starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 04:28, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

I know - it's just that at the upload point, that's the category I can most easily remember. I do like to make a pass through every so often to recat stuff that's in the various upper categories and drive them into proper subcats. Tabercil (talk) 13:46, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
@Starship.paint:Of course, that's assuming they go into the right category to begin with - ahem. Here. Tabercil (talk) 13:50, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I understand where you're coming from (about the upload point). I just recategorized a lot of stuff so you shouldn't need to make a pass in some time. If I may suggest, you upload to "Professional wrestling moves" instead of "attacks", firstly it is the parent category (throws is a subset of moves but isn't a subset of attacks) and secondly there are fewer pictures in "moves" than "attacks", so less to go through when re-categorizing. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 01:00, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Dear Tabercil,

I asked Jasmin Areebi on her Twitter account (@IsntSHELOVELY_4) and she commented that she don't like her current Wikipedia page picture (see screenshots on Imgur.com here and here) and she asked if I can use the photo below on her article.

Can we please use the photo requested instead? She's gave me permission to use it. (See proof in the other Imgur screenshots here and here aswell).

This is the photo she would like to use.

Thanks for uploading File:WWE TLC 2014 in Demand poster.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. Proposed deletion of Holly Sweet

The article Holly Sweet has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails PORNBIO and the GNG. No independent reliable sourcing. No claim of notability. No biographical content.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Request

Hi there. Concerning your decision to block an IP editor without properly checking the issue at hand, I would like to inform you that I have replied to the accusations here. Could it perhaps be that you have not properly looked at the issue at hand? If you're going to block me for edit wars, how about the Editor who openly admitted to have violated against WP:3R himself? He remains unblocked and is allowed to impose his preferred version of how Wikipedia articles on TV series should look like, by hiding the Episode headline from the table of content? Before you block someone, IP editor or registered editor, you must look at the issue at hand. There is more here than just WP:3R. I am not appealing the block. I am asking you to please require from the reporting editor a Wikipedia policy or guideline which allows him to alter Wikipedia TV series articles by hiding the Episodes headline from the table of content. Thank you. 77.4.168.182 (talk) 12:59, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Here we go again...

So, you're telling me that I'm on the verge of being banned from editing from inserting the correct match timings? Does that appear to be an act of deliberate destruction to the article? Not to mention the simpletons that edit these articles with the most inaccurate information. But when I make an attempt to fix some of these inaccuracies, I receive a threatening notification in the process. Do any of them have the sources to solidify their edits? Do you know for sure that specifically MY information is incorrect? I'm sick of you always sticking your nose into my business. Please, stay out of my case. A number of years ago, I remember running across a how-to article of sorts that sort of spelled out the steps to requesting a photo from a notable person. @Rosseditorial: Nope. What you did during your edit is remove every citation present in the article. That's a huge no-no. From the Wikipedia policy on verifiability: "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." What you did was made it harder for anyone else to verify the article's contents. Tabercil (talk) 02:14, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Tabercil. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi Tabercil.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:48, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

It's not a question of sourcing, it's a question of tone. We are an encyclopedia and we aim for a tone that suits it. What you've been contributing is more akin to the prose that's found in People magazine. And why do you keep removing the photo we have of Dana? It's the most recent free issue one we have of her. Changes made to a television show page

The changes I've made to the "American Crime Story" page are valid, as I currently work on the television show. There is evidently another person, who does not work on the show, making changes that are incorrect. As an employee with first-hand information, I've been correcting those mistakes each time I see them. Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.205.234.15 (talk) 17:47, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Perhaps, yet we require a reliable soource for that change. You're not providing it. Tabercil (talk) 11:51, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed that several years ago you voted in favour of keeping the article on UK porn star Cathy Barry. A few months ago it was deleted with only 3 votes in favour - evidently very few editors noticed. Would appreciate it if you could help, as it seems bizarre that an article on a clearly notable figure can just be deleted on the say so of so few editors?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.18.55.1 (talk) 11:41, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

  • You will now get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account and fails. If they try from a device that has logged into your account before, you will be notified after five failed attempts. You can also set in your preferences to get an email when someone logs in to your account from a new device or IP address, which may be encouraged for admins and accounts with sensitive permissions.
  • Syntax highlighting is now available as a beta feature (more info). This may assist administrators and template editors when dealing with intricate syntax of high-risk templates and system messages.
  • In your notification preferences, you can now block specific users from pinging you. This functionality will soon be available for Special:EmailUser as well.

The article Carlos Valdes (actor) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Student actor with no independent sources nor claim to notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

I work in the Production office on "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace" and someone keeps changing the cast page to reflect wildly inaccurate information about our main cast. This person clearly does not have any association with our television show, as one of the actor's (Max Greenfield) character name is completely incorrect (despite media articles echoing the information - the references are unfortunately inaccurate as well). The editor also continues to include actors who have been guest cast on the show (one or two episodes), but are quite far from being part of our main cast (Annaleigh Ashford and Nico Evers-Swindell). I've been correcting these inaccuracies as frequently as possible only to have the corrections reversed to reveal the incorrect information once more. As I've previously mentioned, I literally work ON the show and see the scripts and schedules firsthand. My source is me, and the media has not yet been informed of our final main/guest cast members. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.205.234.15 (talk) 02:04, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Saw your previous note and understand the policy, but letting you know that the media sources are incorrect in their articles stating that Max is playing Santo. He is not. He plays a character named Ronnie. And Annaleigh and Nico are NOT main cast members. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.205.234.15 (talk) 03:16, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Tabercil. I looked around and was able to find/make a free image of Gary Graver. However, it's a screenshot of a low resolution "home movie" (making of a movie he filmed), so much worse quality than the non-free one that you got. What do you think, should we replace the non-free one with this one in our article? --GRuban (talk) 21:33, 27 October 2017 (UTC) Yup. In fact we have to. If you look at the rationale behind the non-free image it states: "A free image may not exist, but in the event of a free image being located for this person in the future, this image should be deleted as soon as possible.". You've found a free image, so we're pretty much obligated to use it. Tabercil (talk) 22:14, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Gary Graver.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Gary Graver.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:05, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
