Türkiye, not Turkey[edit]

Hello. Perhaps you missed where the people who deleted your contributions to Talk:Turkey explained this to you[1][2] in the accompanying edit summaries, but it's because you added to a formal discussion that's now closed. Largoplazo (talk) 22:53, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So the discussion is closed ? We cannot share our POV ? And why there is only opposed people. Seems like Support comments have been deleted. TB du CAN (talk) 22:53, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That was a formal discussion initiated to try to reach a decision through consensus. That decision was made, so that discussion is over. It isn't going to be reopened, in the same way your freedom to express yourself doesn't mean you can vote after Election Day.
You can engage in other discussions or start your own. But before you start one on the name used here for the country, note the big message that appears when you click "Edit": "STOP! Are you about to request a change of the name of this article to Türkiye or Turkiye? There is currently a 1-year moratorium on Requested Moves for this article until 1 December 2023." The subject has been raised very many times. Repeating the same subject over and over and discussing it endlessly becomes disruptive as it continues to take the attention and time of people who are watching the page and it overwhelms discussion of anything else. In addition, new arguments are rarely made. The only thing likely to result in a different decision is sufficiently widespread adoption of the new name in reliable sources. If you're interested, the guidelines that apply to such decisions about name changes are at WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES. Largoplazo (talk) 23:06, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
whatever, how we create a state member map in Wiki ? TB du CAN (talk) 23:46, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you think people have been deleting Support opinions from the conversation, you can look at the talk page's history and see for yourself that that isn't true. Largoplazo (talk) 23:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. What wrong i did ? I just participated to the discussion. And you guys keep deleting my support on the subject to change the name. TB du CAN (talk) 23:56, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One thing you did that was wrong is exactly the same thing that you did that was wrong when I last contacted you about it, except that this time you did it after having already been advised that it was incorrect. Is it unclear what it means to state that a particular discussion is closed? You "just participated" in a discussion that's closed.
As for raising the topic again in a new section as you did: There are plenty of opportunities to discuss concerns about various articles on their talk pages, but the community can also choose to issue moratoriums to prevent talk pages from being monopolized by the same conversations, the same arguments, for years, so that there's room to discuss other things, and to provide time in between those bigger discussions to give the circumstances on which an outcome will be based to change sufficiently for it to be worth trying again for a different outcome.
If, once the moratorium ends, you want to raise the topic again, you ought to do so only after reviewing the discussions that came before, having studied Wikipedia's applicable guidelines, and having made yourself familiar with the arguments that were made and how and why each of them did or didn't succeed in making a case for the proposed change. Having absorbed all of that, you should come prepared with evidence that the situation has changed and that, this time, the criteria for a name change have been met. Stating "Most of the international medias now use Türkiye since the earthquake. And all the governments around the world use it too." will be insufficient because your first sentence was provided without evidence and the second is irrelevant under the guidelines, as has been noted dozens of times over the course of previous discussions. At least, that's my advice if you care whether your proposal is successful. Largoplazo (talk) 00:22, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah a discussion that is closed after that we just have opposed people on the subject ?
And why other people dont need evidence as me when they argue on the subject ? See the discussion ! There's a lot of opposed pov without an evidence. Will you deleted they arguments ? For course no, because the main reason is to irritated Turks about the name of their country. Why Swaziland has changed his name to Eswatini and now no one on Wikipedia use Swaziland ? Why Türkiye cant have that treatment ? TB du CAN (talk) 22:32, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help on Turkish Wikipedia?[edit]

Hello @TB du CAN,

It seems you might be Turkish and interested in electric cars.

If so maybe you would like to improve tr:Elektrikli otomobil. As you can see I gave up in frustration Talk:Togg#Do any Turkish Wikipedians care about electric cars? but it is obviously important for the country, especially because of the air pollution in Istanbul I hope many taxi drivers get TOGG cars Chidgk1 (talk) 15:56, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Chidgk1,
Yes I am Turkish. But i live in Canada.
I can look at the subject. But my writting in Turkish isn't super advance to be able to make some contributions.
I already made some contribtions in the past on Turkish Wikipedia, but some of my changes had to be approuved before publish. I dont know why. And sometimes, the contributions were deleted without a reason, even before being published. I think that it is a little bit different than English or French Wikipedia. In Türkiye i dont think that Wikipedia (Vikipedi) is widely used, since the web site was used to support Western propanda and to falsely criticize the Turkish government on matter of national importance.
But what happened on Elektrikli otomobil ? Why were you frustated ? TB du CAN (talk) 20:30, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because I kept deleting out of date stuff (like excessive obsolete detail on fire risks) and other editors kept on putting it back in. Chidgk1 (talk) 07:32, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then maybe just do a History section. Put the outdated stuff there. And just explain them why it is outdated. Maybe they will understand. TB du CAN (talk) 17:37, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see you created Togg T10F - great. Re Elektrikli otomobil the history section is already a big part of the article. And they don’t understand even when I quote their own guidelines in Turkish, such as the need for citations. So I got fed up and gave up. Re language readership https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikimedia/animations/wivivi/wivivi.html shows about half the page views in Turkey are for English Wikipedia and a third for Turkish. Obviously it will vary by article but I don’t know how to find page views for Electric car by country. Chidgk1 (talk) 09:40, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So basically Turks in Turkiye read more in English than Turkish sur Wikipedia ? TB du CAN (talk) 18:21, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I just found out that data is no longer updated - it is from 2018. So I can only make guesses forEnglish language articles which are about Turkey but not interesting for tourists. By comparing the totals for English and Turkish. Like maybe Coal in Turkey Chidgk1 (talk) 10:58, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
which has about 60% of the pageviews of the Turkish article Chidgk1 (talk) 11:05, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
