I know how you are with computers, (strange considering your academic credentials), so I will give you a few simple missions to try out. Attempt them at your leisure.

Mission #1: Observe the row of tabs at the top: 'user page', 'discussion', 'edit this page', 'new section', 'history', 'move', 'unwatch'.

Congratulations. That was your first mission. Ha ha.

Mission #2: Click 'user page', look at it for a few seconds, then click 'discussion' to return here.

Congratulations. You just visited your user page. That page is just to identify yourself. You can put whatever you want there.

Mission #3: Click 'edit this page'. Write something in reply to this post. At the end of the reply type four tildes (~). Those four tildes will make your signature showing that you wrote it. Then, at the bottom of the page, click the gray bar entitled 'SAVE PAGE'.

Other missions, when you are ready:

Mission #4: At the top right click 'my watchlist'. Check it out. At the top right click 'my talk' to return here.

Mission #5: On your watchlist, choose an entry and click (diff) on the left to see the change that was made.

Mission #6: On your watchlist, choose an entry and click (hist) on the left to see the list of changes that were made.
