Speedy deletion nomination of File:KCLR Cliff Hatfield.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:KCLR Cliff Hatfield.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Regarding your message in my guestbook

Sorry, but I didn't take the barnstar because I believe that I should be awarded barnstars by having users award me them. I don't just grab them from pages and add them to my award page. Typo corrections

Hi – you just did an edit at Shetland Sheepdog, under the heading "Wikipedia:Typo Team". Of your four typo "corrections", I'm afraid two of them introduced errors which were not there before, and a third changed one correct version to another: I've reverted those changes. Template:Colored text

I noticed the Hawaii article was broken because of edits on the above template. I was not the author, but it seems the Hawaii article is the only user of it. I think perhaps you intended to put some documentation there? I put documentation into the conventional place of Template:Colored text/doc, and restored the template itself to working order. Your edits had the summary "updated page" which is not very informative. We know you updated the page; the summary is meant to indicate some motivation behind the change. Do not understand your response. What exact problem did you think was fixed by the "improvement"? Before your change, {{Colored text|blah|green}} produced: blah while after your change it produced:

To produce colored text use this code: 

<span style="color: green">blah</span>

Example: 

<span style="color:#0000FF">Example</span>

Produces: Example

That is, what looks like an attempt to add documentation was inserted on each and every entry of the table in which the template was used. Did you read the documentation for templates? Did you look at the Hawaii article where it was used before and after your change to verify your change actually fixed what you thought was broken? If you indeed were attempting to add documentation, then a summary like "attempted to add documentation" might have made sense. Another idea might be to look at some other templates before modifying one that is in use. W Nowicki (talk) 23:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
