Bruce Lee[edit]

You've got to read the article before changing it. Right in the spot where you put nationality there is a note explaining why it should not be there. As to martial artist, this was (i) a repetition, and (ii) if you read the article, you would notice that his film career started well before he became an instructor. And not to forget, if you want to change that information, I would advise posting a note at talk:Bruce Lee first - I am not a person to argue with on that. One more thing, a site named like http://www.bruceleefoundation.com does not automatically mean it is a reliable source for wikipedia. Please examine WP:RS and WP:PRIMARY. The reasons for my reverts are explained above. As I mentioned, you've got to talk to other editors about this. What I can say is it is not important that someone was "full-time somebody (say carpenter)" - it is more important what that person is known for. To a layperson like me, Bruce Lee is known as an actor and Jeet Kune Do founder and practitioner, not as Wing Chun instructor. Materialscientist (talk) 04:12, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please. There was so much edit warring over that article, which I do not want to understand, thus what I am asking you is not to change controversial things right away, but discuss them at talk:Bruce Lee first - again, please, I am just a guardian. You might not know how to get to some pages on WP, thus here are direct links to discussions on his nationality. Talk:Bruce_Lee/Archive_4, Talk:Bruce_Lee/Archive_5. Materialscientist (talk) 04:30, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the answer is that the nationality of Chuck Norris is crystal clear and of Bruce Lee is not and is a matter of debate. Wikipedia tries either to avoid controversial information or to present (neutralility) several views on it. I guess in this case the decision was avoid (again, you've got to read the actual discussion). Materialscientist (talk) 04:53, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't rush. At the moment, your suggestion sounds like "I decided he is Chinese-American". This is a strong claim, which needs reliable support by proper external references. Materialscientist (talk) 05:44, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
