WP:CP[edit]

Hi, you've reported copyright infringements to WP:CP in the last week, a new measure was recently passed to allow the speedy deltion of new pages that are cut and paste copyvios. Blatant copyright infringements may now be "speedied"

If an article and all its revisions are unquestionably copied from the website of a commercial content provider and there is no assertion of permission, ownership or fair use and none seems likely, and the article is less than 48 hours old, it may be speedily deleted. See CSD A8 for full conditions.

After notifying the uploading editor by using wording similar to:

{{nothanks-sd|pg=page name|url=url of source}} -- ~~~~

Blank the page and replace the text with

{{db-copyvio|url=url of source}}

to the article in question, leaving the content visible. An administrator will examine the article and decide whether to speedily delete it or not.

odd page moves[edit]

Well, it was an indication that your account could have been compromised; someone perhaps could have guessed your password, or used your computer while you were away from it. So the prudent thing to do was to block. I'll unblock (I hope I'm talking to the rightful owner of this account and not a possible impostor). If you wish to change your username, you should contact a Wikipedia bureaucrat from the Wikipedia:List of bureaucrats.
Simply moving your user page doesn't work, since a redirect is created from the previous page and anyone could simply following the chain of redirects. Also, simply moving your user page doesn't actually change your username; all your future contributions are still under your existing name. Stettlerj, thanks for your comments on my talk page. I generally agree with you. The Mennonites I have experience of don't shun, and even the Old Orders round our area are much more moderate than Anacapa would like to portray. I would recommend that you said exactly what you said to me on the Talk:Mennonite page. It sometime happens that an editor arrives at a page with a very fixed idea about something, usually based on a strong (but sometimes very limited) experience they have had. Stettlerj, je ne comprende pas is the only French I remember. Seriously, your last comment on Excomm discussion is in French. Is there some automatic translation or do you know French fluently?

Also while I am here I cannot resist commenting on DJ's comments above. His POV is his POV. He has no idea how I see things. My experience is much less limited that he would have you believe. As I hope you can see from comments on my discussion page I am quite able to see the big picture here. I detest this kind of covert relational aggression behind my back and I will call him on it. Please also back me by calling him on it and refraining from making or listening to personal innuendos behind my back. The place to discuss POV's is on the appropriate discussion pages right out in the open so no one's character or POV is assassinated behind their backs. This precise issue is why I fight so hard about Anabaptist shunning. It is vicious! NO offense to you or any other nice Anabaptist. So far you seem to being up front with us all. I hope to see that continue and I promise to respect your reputation too Anacapa 03:39, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reverting Vandalism[edit]

Stettlerj, thanks for reverting User:Tremo5775's vandalism to the Mennonite and Daniel (name) pages. In the future, I'd encourage you to leave a signed warning on the user talk page. In this case the Tawkerbot2 had already left a message before the user made the changes you reverted. I went ahead and left a second message since I think its useful to have a human do it too.

thank you for keeping a lid on User:Anacapa.[edit]

i was taking a wiki-break for about 6 weeks and thought i was never coming back, but i did come back. it is clear that Anacapa is using WP to grind an axe and is using WP for a soapbox and WP needs more people to stand up to her so that her denial of such is not enabled. also, just FYI, i noticed that you tried to attribute Anacapa's unsigned comments. there is a nifty template for it:

I think when we stand up to Ana. it is the best way to handle her/him. After he/she started editing I stopped editing anything for almost a month and figured he/she'd have been kicked out, forgot about it by then. When I came back, I looked at how other editors handle her on the other pages and the only way to deal w. is by not letting ana. dictate. Stettlerj, you normally don't have to respond on the talk page when someone initiates a conversation on yours. they normally should be watching your talk page until they think the conversation is "over". this way we have context and word flow.
BTW, i think your practical joke is a riot.
i was just examining the history of Excommunication and it looks like to did a decent edit to it that Anacapa wiped out. if there are points that you think should be wiggled in, do so. also i invite you to clean it up. as DJ or someone noted, there is entirely to much space taken for Anabaptists. the only way i can think of to reduce space would be to remove the Amish, Menno, Hudderite subsections and do a brief description of the historical practice, what might happen in a "mainstream" church, and some mention of what some of these more fringe groups might occasionally do. including the ugly. do to the article what you think best. the worst that can happen is it gets reverted, but not likely by me. I enjoy editing the writing, but don't really want to go back to library and check out Hostetler's and Kraybill's books again. Questions on Pennsylvania Dutch words[edit]

Hello again. Recently you answered a question about the word "Grossvatihaus" in the Amish talk page, a word which I believe I stumbled across on David E. Yoder's webpage. Would "Daadihaus" or "Grossdaadihaus" be a more appropriate or more commonly utilized term? Should we include both? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Amish Tax Burden and Benefits[edit]

I am curious why you detagged my request for verification of the statement in the Amish article, to wit: The Amish therefore likely pay more in tax than the value of the benefits they receive. This statement is by no means obvious, nor a commonly known fact. Given its shades of NPOV, and the fact that it is essentially empirical in nature, the statement must be verified before inclusion (on at least NOR and POV grounds). Amish‎ GA Sweeps Review: On Hold[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Culture and Society" articles. I have reviewed Amish‎ and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. In reviewing the article, I have found there are several issues that need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left this message on your talk page since you have significantly edited the article (based on using this article history tool). Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix with the assistance of multiple editors. I have also left messages on the talk pages of a few other editors and several related WikiProjects to spread the workload around some. April - National Contribution Month[edit]

Good day Stettlerj,

During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing the National Contribution Month, and we are looking for experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half-day) in their region.

Contribution days are activities where Wikipedia's contributors, students, or anybody interested in contributing to Wikipedia meets together to collectively improve a predetermined theme. This meetings generally take place in library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participatory workshops is to initiate neophyte in the cooperative contribution of Wikipedia.

If you are interested in organizing or participating in a contribution day in your region, communicate witht he national team on the project's talk page. The exact agenda of each local event is left to the discretion of the organizer. Help is available for the organization from contributors who already organized these type of days, so don't be worried. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact us.
