Fair use rationale for Image:Newport nich.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Newport nich.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image Copyright problem

Hi Stephengough19!
We thank you for uploading Image:Uni hadams.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Newport guildhall, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.newportsaloptowncouncil.co.uk/pages/guildhall.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Neutral point of view[edit]

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Newport, Shropshire. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. haz (talk) 13:53, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newport, shropshire gallery[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Newport, shropshire gallery, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice?

My reason for proposing deletion is found in What Wikipedia is not, in the section headed Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files, which gives some suggestions how your iumages can be usefully used. JohnCD (talk) 17:29, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stephengough, and thanks for contributing your work to Wikimedia projects. I removed the deletion proposal from this article, suggesting that it be transferred instead to a sister project, Wikimedia Commons. The process is called "transwiki" and it can be done to another Wikimedia project like Commons. Or, since you're the only one who has contributed to the article, you can create it again on Commons, copying the content and uploading the photos to Commons.
Wikimedia created the Commons project as a central place to put photographs (and other media) and galleries. There's a big advantage to putting photos on Commons instead of Wikipedia: once they're on Commons, any article in any Wikimedia project can use the photo. So it can be used in the French Wiktionary or the Chinese Wikiversity or the Russian Wikipedia. In contrast, when you upload a photo to a Wikipedia, it's only available on that one project. I've contributed a couple thousand photographs to Commons, and it's a nice feeling to discover that someone has selected them for use in a Wikipedia in a foreign language. When editors select photos, they often visit galleries and categories on Commons to browse and see what's available. Visit Kyoto on Commons for just one example. I hope you enjoy both Commons and Wikipedia and contribute often. Best regards, Fg2 (talk) 10:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commons[edit]

Why on earth have you been uploading your own images here? You will now have to go through and upload them to the Commons. Please read transferring your own images to the Commons and wikilinks from the Commons. The gallery awaits you at Commons:Newport, Shropshire all it needs is the images! Other people have been much better at using the Commons. Someone created a gallery of Croydon images here. We transferred it to the Commons as Commons:London Borough of Croydon and most of the images were already there. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 10:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Conferences-uk org uk conference image big 397th.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Conferences-uk org uk conference image big 397th.jpg is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Conferences-uk org uk conference image big 397th.jpg, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Gallery[edit]

I did create Commons:Newport, Shropshire but it got deleted! I have moved your gallery to User:Stephengough19/gallery. Do not move it back into the article namespace.

You really do not deserve my help because of your persistent and blatant copyright violations. I will give you a few days to go through your uploads and put a db-author tag on all your ripped off images.

Copyright problems[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Artist impression 03.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, Image:Artist impression 03.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Artist impression 03.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Image:Artist impression 03.jpg and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Artist impression 03.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Image:Artist impression 03.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. — mholland (talk) 14:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimatum[edit]

I am prepared to accept the following images as legitimate.

All your other uploads appear to be copyright violations.

I am not going to waste any more time looking for sources. I will give you one week. Then, if you have not applied more credible source and licence details, I shall simply delete them as suspected copyvios. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 17:04, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

more copyright violations[edit]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Missenden Abbey. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 17:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations (12 May 2008)[edit]

Of your most recent image uploads, I have tagged the following as copyright violations:

It cannot have escaped your attention that uploading unlicensed, copyrighted material and asserting that you are the copyright holder is not right. Please be aware, as you have been reminded several times before, that where copyright violations are detected, they are removed, and that editors who persistently introduced copyrighted material (text and images) are blocked from editing Wikipedia, sometimes indefinitely. — mholland (talk) 19:34, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you receiving?[edit]

If it is not too much trouble, could you please add a little note to this page to confirm that: a) you have read these messages and b) you understand the meaning of the word 'copyright'. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 21:28, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo harperadams u.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo harperadams u.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Fish_logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Fish_logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? ElinorD (talk) 20:19, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Resource 20061004161745.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Newport old postcard.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: . File:Newport canal.jpg needs authorship information[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Newport canal.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the own template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:26, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Files missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:25, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Trackof nocturn.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
