- Nearly half of the 4+ hour, three part version I'm watching right now takes place in (at first) or near Coober Pedy - the last third is intentionally a bit vague as to exactly how far from the town it is. It doesn't matter if you're watching the movie and see what you think it a location but it's OR and you could be wrong.
